István Gazdag

Kálmán Géresi was the son of a reformed priest in Visk and the nephew of the famous professor called József Lugossy. Though his life was very varieted, having an interesting and valuable career, moroever his name was written into the cultural history of Debrecen, he has not got a valuable biography which can summarize his life and activity until this day. István Gazdag tries to correct this mistake to quote and analyse the articles and parts of articles from the Protestant Newspaper of Debrecen dealing with Géresi. The author surveys Géresi’s whole career as an introduction. The base of the examination is that Géresi was a loyal member of the Deák party and István Tisza’s private teacher then he became his paternal good friend. The author shows the political background of the articles and his local knowledge makes them more valuable.
