HÍR, J. Generic differencial diagnosis The fossil remains below were identified as Cricetodon based on the following characters: — Cricetodon klariankae n. sp. differs from genus Hispanomys MEIN & FREUDENTHAL, 1971 m the presence of a well developed anterolophulid and a metalophulid II in the Mi tooth, and in the not reduced hypoconid and posterolophulid in the M3. — Cricetodon klariankae n. sp. differs from genus By-^antinia DE BRUIJN, 1976 in the absence of well developed lingual quersporn of the anterolophulus of the Mi, and in having equally developed anterior and posterior width of the M 2 molars, and a not elongated M 3 , a metalophulid II in the Mi, and flat, not concave, occlusal surfaces in the adult molars. — Cricetodon klariankae n. sp. differs from Wiiscinomys DEPERÉT, 1890 in its knver degree of hypsodonty, not reduced morphology of M 3 and M3, and in presence of a well developed anterolophulid and metalophulid II in Mi. — Cricetodon klariankae n. sp. differs from Deperetomys MEIN & FREUDENTHAL, 1971 in being more hypsodont, and in the absence of a lingual quersporn II, protolophulus I, mesoloph and ectomesoloph in the upper molars, and in absence of w r ell developed anterolophid—arms in the Mi. The hypolophulid 1 is directed antero—labially, not anteriorly, and it is not connected to the mesolophid. — Cricetodon klariankae n. sp. differs from Schi^ocricetodon KÄLIN & ENGESSER 2001 in being substantial!}- larger, with a higher degree of hypsodonty, well developed ectolophs and protocone— Sporns in the upper molars and a metalophulid II. in the Mi molars. Cricetodon klariankae n. sp. Holotype — Upper M 1 molar with inventory N° 2005. 52., deposited in the Municipal Museum of Pásztó. (Plate 1: 2, 6, 10). Paratype — Upper M 3 molar with inventory N° 2005. 87. in the Municipal Museum of Pásztó. (Plate I: 11). Material — FF 2/3: 8 M 1 , 11 M 2 , 10 M 3 , 13 M,, 16 M 2 , 9 M 3 , FF 2/7: 1 M 3 . Depository — The material is stored in the Natural History Collection of the Municipal Museum of Pásztó (MMP) (Organization of the Nógrád County Museums) under the inventory numbers 2005.50.-2005.54., 2005.57.2005.106., 2005.182.-2005.186., 2005.228., 2005.475.2005.480. Type strata — Sarmatian limnic clay, part of the Kozárd Formation (PELIKÁN 2005). The biochronologic position of the rodent fauna is MN 7/8. Name — Honour to Mr. Csaba KLARIANKA who helped the author in the paleontological excavations during the last two decades. Diagnosis — Large sized and high crowned Cricetodon tooth with divided anteroconus, undeveloped mesoloph, the postectoloph of the paraconus and the anterior ectoloph of the metaconus are joined and a short protoconus— sporn is developed in the M 1 . Description of the holotype — Four routed subadult M 1 JsTe 2005.52. (Plate I: 2, 6, 10). The anteroconus is divided and consists of two equally developed Description of the M 1 molars (Table 1) — The general structure of the anteroconus refers to the holotype. The labial conus bears an anteroconus-sporn. This sporn is lingually directed and does not reach the paraconus in 5 molars (Ns 2005.50., 51., 52., 182., 183.). The anteroconus-sporn is connected to the anterior ectoloph of the paraconus and closes the anterior sinus in 3 molars (N° 2005.51., 52., 53.). The anterolophulus is narrow in four molars (Ns 2005.51., 52., 182., 183.). The anterolophules are wide in four other cones, connected by a short transverse ridge on the posterior side. The groove between the cones does not reach the anterior base of the crown. The labial conus bears a postero-buccallv directed anteroconus-sporn, which does not reach the paraconus. The anterolophulus is widely confluent with the protoconus. An independent (coneletlike) lingual querspor II. is present. The mesoloph is absent. The protolophulus II. is short and transversally directed. A short protoconus— sporn is developed. The paraconus has a postectoloph that is connected to the anterior ectoloph of the metaconus. The main lingual sinus is closed by a conelet-like lingual cingulum. The lophs are slighdy lower developed than die cusps. Description of the paratype — Subadult M 3 NQ 2005. 87. (Plate I: 11). The molar is four routed, but two antero-lingual roots are united (although the pulpa channels remained independent). The occlusal surface is rounded, isodiametric and not elongated. The labial parr of the anteroconus is better developed than the lingual part. The lingual part is connected to a lingual anteroloph-arm. The lingual anterocone and the protocone are connected by an anterolophulus. The protoconus-sporn is developed. A mesoloph is absent. The postectoloph of the paraconus is connected to the reduced hypoconus. The protolophulus II. bears an anteriorly directed accessory ridge, which is not connected to the labial anteroconus. The hypoconus and the metaconus are equally reduced. other specimens Table 1 — Measurements of M 1 molars.
