Vörös A. szerk.: Fragmenta Mineralogica Et Palaentologica 15. 1992. (Budapest, 1992)

inner part of ventral side. Muscle facets separated by a low rhomboidal process. Ventral side concave with a Y-shaped groove and a rhomboidal process. This process spine-shaped, very long and arched, circular in outline, having a central axial canal (evident only in specimens with broken spine). Remarks: Our specimens are similar to those figured by Pisera and Dzik (1979, fig. 8 and pl. IV, figs. 5-6) as L. staszici but slightly differ in their gently oblique cup axis and in the thinner and higher interradial projections. Textfig. 6 - Lonchocrinus staszici PISERA and DZIK, 1979, reconstruction of a cup ( x 5). a, dorsal view; b, lateral view; c, ventral view Of the material assigned to this species by Gluchowski (1987), only the specimen figured on pi. 4, fig. 8 is comparable to ours while the others are rather poorly preserved. The cups of L. magnispinosus ARENDT, 1974 and L. pskaboirensis ARENDT, 1974 are higher than those of L. staszici. Several other cups of smaller size were also found, these are considered juvenile specimens of this species. These cups, sometimes externally covered with grains, are oblique with small interradial projections, wide ventral cavity and small and slightly prominent radial facets. The AxAx are generally preserved with broken spine or spine fragments. Some of the spine fragments indicate that the spines could be strongly bent inward. The AxAx showed by Arendt (1974) and Gluchowski (1987) are worn thus do not allow a meaningful comparison. Specimens: 20 cups labelled as NS 6/ 465-468 and several AxAx labelled as NS6/469- 474. Occurrence: Lonchocrinus staszici was originally described from the Red Rogoznik coquina of Early to Middle Tithonian age from Poland.
