JENSER Plant Protection Institute, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, 1525 Budapest Pf. 102, Hungary. E-mail: jenserg@hu.inter.net Abstract - Faunistical records of seven Thysanoptera species new for the Hungarian fauna are given. Ecological observations on five Thysanoptera species of Carpathian Basin are discussed. Key words - Thysanoptera, Hungary, Romania, new records. NEW THYSANOPTERA SPECIES FOR HUNGARY Nigritothrips longistylosus (PRIESNER, 1920) - The geographical distribution and biology of this species is poorly known. Specimens collected in grasses were found at Klaus in Alpenvorland (Austria) (FRANZ & PRIESNER 1961), in the Kursk area, Russia (SCHLIEPHAKE & KLIMT 1979). According to ZUR STRASSEN (2003) it is associated with bank vegetation. We have collected four females by beating from Crataegus monogyna in the Mátra Mountains, at Fallóskút-Mátraszentimre (near to Gyöngyös) in the oak zone on 18.VI.2005. Odontothrips dorycnii PRIESNER, 1951 - PELIKÁN (1958) described it as Odontothrips paraconfusus from South Bohemia. It is known from Austria, Croatia, South France, Spain, Turkey (ZUR STRASSEN 2003), and Romania (JENSER et al. 2005). I have found it in the Pilis Mountains, in the flowers of Dorycnium germanicum (three females at Dunabogdány, on 7.VI.2001; three females, three males at Tahitótfalu, on 19.VI.1993; two females, three males at Szentendre on 19.VI.1993). Orothrips priesneri (TlTSCHACK, 1958) - The single European member of the genus was described as Ekplectothrips priesneri by TlTSCHACK (1958) on the basis of one female collected from the flowers of hawthorn in Spain. The genus Ekplectothrips TlTSCHACK, 1958 was synonymised by MOUND (1991) with Orothrips MOULTON, 1907. According to MARULLO & MOUND ( 1993) this species is widespread in the Mediterranean region, from
