MURÁNYI Department of Zology, Hungarian Natural History Museum H-1088 Budapest, Baross u. 13, Hungary. E-mail: muranyi@zool.nhmus.hu Abstract - New records of 34 species collected in Albania during nine collecting trips between 2002 and 2006 are given. Distributional or taxonomical notes are given for 14 species. Somatochlora meridionalis NIELSEN, 1935 and Sympetrum depressiusculum (SÉLYS-LONGCHAMPS, 1841) are new to the fauna of Albania. The first record ofSomatochloraflavomaculata (VANDER LINDEN, 1825) for Albania is given based on material from the Natural History Museum, London. The number of known species of Albanian Odonata is 55. With 3 figures. Key words - Odonata, Albania, faunistics, new records. INTRODUCTION Contrary to most other European countries, the dragonfly fauna of Albania is poorly known. BlLEK (1966) published new records and revised all old records bringing the total number of species for Albania to 39. After his publication only two other papers on Albanian odonates were published (DUMONT et al. 1993, KALKMAN 2000) bringing the number of species known from the country to 52. The Hungarian Natural History Museum has been carrying out zoological expeditions in Albania since 1992. These collecting trips have been conducted with the participation of researchers of aquatic insects since 2002. In this paper records of 34 species collected during these expeditions are published and notes on distribution and taxonomy are presented.
