FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK Volume 64 2003 pp. 341-344. A new species of Polyodaspis Duda (Diptera: Chloropidae) from Hungary J. W. ISMAY and B. SCHULTEN Abstract: A new species, Polyodaspis convexa (Diptera, Chloropidae), is described from Hungary. It differs from related species in the convex, raised swelling on the frons. Key words: Diptera, Chloropidae, Polyodaspis, new species, Hungary Polyodaspis convexa sp. n. Holotype - Ç Hungary, Aggteleki NP, Szin, Szelcepuszta, 2002. júl. 6, erdőszéli virágok [flowers on the edge of forest], leg. Papp L. Deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest, Hungary. Description - Shining, almost entirely black species. Anterior margins of frons, face, anterior gena and palpus reddish brown, first flagellomere of antenna darker on distal margin, gena grading from black posteriorly to paler anteriorly, middle and posterior tarsi dark yellow on segments 1-3. Head. Broader than deep and deeper than long. Frons about as long as broad (measured across level of anterior ocellus), lateral margins almost parallel, anterior margin not present anterior to anterior margin of eyes, without dusting, but setulae and setae set in punctures, surface of frons otherwise shining and with slightly metallic reflections. Frons with convex swelling anterior to ocelli broader than depth of first flagellomere, raised above level of remainder of frons and obscuring extent of ocellar triangle (Figs 1, 2). Setae on head and thorax slightly broadened, black. Length of ocellar setae about equal to separation of ocelli, slightly divergent. Postocellar setae longer than ocellar, convergent. Outer vertical seta longest head seta, shorter than depth of palpus, inner vertical seta not distinguished from frons setulae. Orbital setae poorly developed, several longer posterior setae distinguished, much shorter than ocellar setae, reclinate. Most head setulae not longer than diameter of an ocellus. Antennae set within deep antenna! foveae, enclosed by
