concave face and strongly developed facial carina. Carina broad anteriorly and protruding in front of anterior margin of frons, continued ventrally as a linear carina to the edge of mouth. Face broader than high. Antenna with reniform first flagellomere, arista with short microtrichia, shorter than diameter of base of arista. Gena extending anteriorly to level of anterior margin offrons and divided into silver dusted dorsal margin and shining ventral area. Gena broad, sloping medially, depth below eye (measured in plane view) slightly greater than depth of first flagellomere, dulled by microsculpture (fine lines) except for extreme dorsal margin along eye, which is silver dusted. Setulae on gena on ventral margin except at vibrissal angle, which has additional setulae more dorsally. Palpus curved, much deeper than wide. Proboscis relatively short, not extending beyond oral cavity, no recurved setae. Occiput dulled by microtrichia. Thorax. Scutum about as long as broad, scutum and scutellum slightly shining, surface not dusted, but greatly dulled by microtrichia and numerous extremely short black setulae, those on scutum scarcely longer than diameter of an ocellus. Postpronotal seta not developed, 1+2 notopleural setae developed, each about equal in length to first flagellomere. Prescutellar dorsocentral seta small, equal to outer vertical seta, placed very close to scutal-scutellar suture, posterior supra-alar seta twice the length and thick, posterior intra-alar seta intermediate in position and size. Pleura shining, posterior anepisternum, posterior anepimeron and ventral katepisternum dulled by microsculpture (fine lines). Setulae on ventral katepiFigs 1-2. Polyodaspis convexa sp. n., holotype female, head - 1 : lateral view; 2: subdorsal view (del. Dr Albert Szappanos)
