There is no other Emphytus species known with metallic lustre. There are two further Emphytus species in the Indomalay area: Emphytus borneensis Forsius, 1933 and Emphytus insularis Forsius, 1933 but they are brown or brown and black species with yellow pattern. Neostromboceros nigrojavanus sp. n. (Figs 9, 16) Shining black without metallic reflection. Hind pronotal margin, labrum, apices of coxae and trochanters white. Tibiae white with wide black apical ring and a longitudinal black stripe. Wings hyaline, stigma and venation brownish black. Head, pronotum, propleuron, mesoscutellum, mesoscutellar appendage, postscutellum, mesopleuron and abdomen smooth and shining. Mesonotal lobes smooth and shining with slight and hardly visible superficial undefined surface sculpture. Ratios of the antennái segments 1 to 9 = 9:9:32:23:22:15:14:12:14. OOL:POL:OCL = 14:6:15. Ratios of hind tarsal segments without claws = 35:13:7:3:11. Length of cenchrus : distance between cenchri = 9:13. Length of gena : diameter of front ocellus = 1:5. Length of inner hind tibial spur : length of hind basitarsus = 12:35. Head and thorax with white pubescence about as long as the diameter of front ocellus. Head moderately strongly contracted behind eyes. Clypeus truncated. Frontal area U-shaped. Supraantennal pits connected with a short channel. Claws with large subapical tooth being slightly longer than the apical (Fig. 16). Postocellar area subquadrate. Lateral furrows of the vertex reaching the hind margin of the head. Sawsheath apically contracted (Fig. 9). Length: 9.0 mm. Holotype: female: "Gadah, Jawa, Koningsberger, 31. V. 1911, 1625-2400 m". The holotype is deposited in the zoological collection of the Amsterdam University. Neostromboceros nigrojavanus sp. n. is very similar to N. prianganensis sp. n., however, N nigrojavanus sp. n. has fore wings hyaline, while the wing of /V. prianganensis sp. n. is bicoloured.
