The genus differs from the others by having sclerotized plates on the body surface, and fused tibia and tarsus. Mahunkacoccus mexicoensis sp. n. (Fig- O Material examined — Holotype: female, Mexico, Estado Chiapas, Chajul, Selva Lacandevo, Rio Lacatun, 06. 20. 1996. Leg. S. Mahunka, No. 357. From rainforest litter. Description of adult female — Mounted specimen (Fig. 1): Holotype: adult female 1.4 mm long, 0.77 mm wide. Antennae 3-segmented, 1st segment 41 pm long, 2nd segment 37 pm long, with a sensory pore (campaniform sensillum) (Koteja 1980), apical segment 108 pm long, with fimbriate setae on all segments, apical segment with three sensory setae 16-22 pm long, apical seta 84 pm long, with one short subapical seta 6 pm long.
