7.5.1993, coll. V. Vasu; Mirk, 1700 m, 2 maies, 10.5.1993, coll. V. Vasu; Meghalaya, Elephant Falls, 1500 m, 1 male, 1.5.1992, coll. V. Vasu. Individual variations — All specimens alike. Distribution — India: West Bengal, Meghalaya. Discussion —TV. elost is sharply well defined by possessing entire abdomen black; area between supraantennal pits smooth and polished; tegula black and hind four femora uniformly infuscated except golden yellow apical ends. By virtue of these characters and some other specific features such as inter- and circumocellar furrows distinct; postocellar area broader than long as 3:1; all tibiae entirely yellow and clypeus having triangular emargination, this species can easily be demarcated from the rest of the species of this genus. Females of this species are yet to discovered. This species is confined to the northerneastern states only and is generally available during premonsoon month. Etymology — Species name is an arbitary combination of letters derived from the Entomology Laboratory of Sawfly Taxonomy, where this work was carried out. Nesoselandria leucopoda Rohwer, 1916 (Figs 3, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22) Nesoselandria leucopoda Rohwer, 1916: 102; Malaise, 1944: 17. Female — Colour: Body black, yellow are: all legs except coxae more or less, apical 2 tarsal joints offrant four legs, apex of metatibia and apical 4 metatarsal joints. Wings faintly infumated; venation including costa, subcosta and stigma fuscous. Structure: Average length 4 mm. Antenna filiform, 1.5 head width, scape and pedicel equal, segments 3 and 4 as 3:2. Clypeus (Fig. 3) emarginate, labrum (Fig. 3) broader than long as 2:1 with rounded anterior margin, malar space linear. LID:IDMO:EL = 1:1.2:1, POL:OCL:OOL = 1:0.75:1. Supraantennal pits deep, rounded, area between them smooth. Frontal area convex, median fovea in form of shallow transverse depression above supraclypeal area; postocellar furrow absent, inter- and circumocellar furrows distinct; lateral furrows sunken, parallel and ending well before hypothetical hind margin of head; postocellar area convex, broader than long as 3:1, head before hypothetical hind margin of head; postocellar area convex, broader than long as 3:1, head narrowing behind eyes. Mesoscutellum subconvex, appendage ecarinate, ICDTTD = 1.5, epicnemium separated from mesopleuron by fine furrow. Tarsal claw (Fig. 7) with subapical tooth shorter than apical one, basal lobe disctinct; metabasitarsus longer than following 3 joints combined as 4:3, IATS:MB:OATS = 1:3:0.9. Ovipositor sheath as in Fig. 10 (lateral view) and in Fig. 13 (dorsal view). Lancet (Fig. 16) having 7 serrulae. Sculpture: Body almost impunctate, shining. Pubescence: Fuscous, 0.5 x scape length. Male —Average length 3.5 mm. Similar to female. Genitalia: Penis valve (Fig. 22), gonoforceps (Fig. 19). Material depository — Type: USNM, Washington. Material examined — Paratypes (borrowed from USNM, Washington) bearing labels as: Female, Nesoselandria leucopoda Rohwer, Formosa, Taihorin, H. Sauter 1911, 7.9.1911; Male. N. leucopoda Rohwer, Formosa, Taikoku, H. Sauter, 1912. Specimens: West Bengal, Darjeeling, 2200 m, 3 females, 20.5.1989, coll. M. S. Saini; Manipur, Ukhrul, 1700 m, 1 female, 1 male, 22.9.1992, coll. V. Vasu. Individual variations — Apex of metatibia and coxae except extreme bases without infuscation.
