S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 60. (Budapest, 1999)

Distribution — Formosa, India: West Bengal, Manipur. Discussion — The species is recorded for the first time from India. Previously it was reported from Taiwan only and was not even included in the key to the species of Nesoselandria from South-east Asia by Malaise (1944). Actually Malaise did not have access to the specimens deposited in the USNM and thus, he refrained from making any attempt to include it in the key. He was even not sure whether it actually belonged to Nesoselandria. However, in the present work its final placement has been done which is based on the physical verification of its paratypes borrowed from the USNM. On the basis of some key characters such as hind femora entirely yellowish, abdomen completely black, area between supraantennal pits smooth, and tegula black, this species comes close to N. annandalei (Rohwer), but the differences keeping both of them are given in the key. This species is available during both pre- and postmonsoon seasons from the northeastern states of India. Ferns are its main harbouring and resting plants. Key to the Indian species of Nesoselandria Rohwer 1. Abdomen brownish to black at least above 2. Abdomen with tergites 2-4 fulvous; malar space 0.5 x diamater of median ocellus, lateral furrows indistinct, interoc ellar furrow indicated, postocellar area broader than long as 3:2, antenna subincrassinate in the middle N. rufiventris Rohwer, 1915 2. Legs with some broad pale yellow markings 3. Legs entirely black; (antenna 1.8 x head width, segments 3 and 4 as 4:3; postocellar area broader than long as 2:1; tibiae except base and femora black; lateral furrows broad, reaching almost to hind margin of head) N. turneri Malaise, 1944 3. Tegula black 4.
