Remarks: The most characteristic feature of this species is the pale yellow colour which is in sharp contrast to the blackish rest of body. Specimens with mottled elytra somewhat resemble Casnonidea punctithorax , but the pronotum is glabrous and smooth (hairy and punctate in punctithorax) , only unpaired intervals have a small number of setigerous punctures (all intervals have a lot of them in punctithorax) and legs yellow (dark brown in punc tithorax). Casnonidea baloghi sp. n. (Figs 36, 42) Body dark blackish brown. Length: 10.5-12.2 mm. 3. Head not broader than pronotum; with 2 or 3 flat depressions between eyes; EI= 16: 16; antennae rather slender; segment length ratios: 12: 6: 14: 12: 14: 14: 15: 15: 14: 13: 20. Pronotum as long as broad or a little transverse; surface impunctate, glabrous, shining. Elytra with most punctural rows reaching apex but IV to IX disintegrating preapically; most rows becoming furrow-like in posterior 1/3; striai punctures coarse, contiguous, in lateral rows widely separated; intervals weakly convex; paired intervals entirely glabrous; unpaired intervals with a few setigerous punctures; interval I with 6, III with 6, V with 7, VII with 4, IX., with 5, lateral margin with 3 (preapical) setigerous punctures; setae pale, short; elytral apex simply rounded. Legs with few semierect hairs. Last abdominal sternite simply rounded. Aedeagus: Fig. 36; Habitus: Fig. 42. o. Depressions between eyes very small, puncture-like; EI= 18: 18; length ratios of antennái segments VIII to XI: 16: 16: 14:22; pronotal sides with an ovoid, rugulosely punctate area. Holotype, S, labelled as follows: "NEW GUINEA: NE Wau, 1150-1600 m, 9. II. 1968"; "J. Sedlacek Collector BISHOP". It is deposited in BPBM. Paratypes (total 17 specimens). Morobe Province: labelled as holotype (1 8, HNHM ex BPBM); Wau, 1150-1550 m, 6. II. 1963-27. DC. 1969. JS, MS, R. Hornabrook (2 38, 1 p, BPBM; 1 8, HPCW; 4 88, 2 oo., SPCB; 1 8, 1 o., HNHM ex SPCB); Wau, Haus Copper, Mt. Missim, 22-24. IV. 1965, J. Balogh et J. J. Szent-Ivány (1 p, HNHM); Wau, Kujeru, 1500 mj 27. IX. 1969, A.B. Mirza (1 p. BPBM); Wau. Wau Ck., 29. III. 1963, JS (1 3, SPCB); id., I 1200-1500 m, 6. V. 1963, JS (1 Q_, BPBM). Remarks: The most characteristic feature of this species is the loosely situated striai i punctures, mainly in the lateral rows. The rugulose pronotal side of female is found in Cas! nonidea loksai as well, but the combination of unicolorous blackish body, the reduced elytral vestiture and the formation of the preapical part of elytral striae readily distinguish C. ba- j loghi. The species is dedicated to Dr. J. BALOGH (Zoosystematical and Ecological InstituteT Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest). Casnonidea loksai sp. n. (Figs 37, 43) Head dark reddish brown; pronotum and scutellum pale reddish brown; elytra blackish brown; ventral surface reddish brown; antennae and legs brown, femoral base and 2 basal segments of antennae somewhat paler. Length: 10.2-10. 5 mm.
