glabrous spots surrounded by pubescent areas; glabrous spots somewhat depressed. Legs rather long and slender; femora with scarce, decumbent pubescence; tibiae with pubescence also decumbent, inner side with short, semierect hairs as well; fore tibiae nearly straight, unarmed; middle and hind tibiae slightly but distinctly arched, inner margin with few small denticles placed far from each other. Sterna without modifications: last abdominal sternite broadly rounded. Aedeagus: Fig. 10. Habitus: Fig. 13. o" Unknown. Holotype, 6\ labelled as follows: "NEW GUINEA (NE) Baiyer River Sanctuary 1-5. Di. 1969."; "(No. NGB-U. 22. ) leg. Dr. J. Balogh". It is deposited in HNHM. Paratype. Western Highlands Province: Jimi Valley, Tabibuga, 23-24. IV. 1970, R. Hornabrook (1 Í. HPCW). Remarks: Bothrichara iridescens is somewhat similar to B. pulchella (Guérin-Méneville, 1830) but distinctly differs from it in the following: ground colour of elytra transversal glabrous strip behind pubescent elytral base glabrous spots on elytra apex of aedeagus iridescens sp. n. bluish- purplish, iridescent, shining horizontal distinct, well depressed an acute process pulchella (Guérin-Méneville) bluish, not iridescent, alutaceous oblique indistinct, poorly depressed triangular Bothrichara iners sp. n. (Figs 11, 14) Body blackish brown; elytra somewhat reddish; suturai margin black. Dorsal and ventral surface covered with short, decumbent, greyish white pubescence. Length: 9. 1 mm. <?. Head finely and sparsely punctate, sparsely pubescent; eyes rather convex, transverse; EI= 13. 5: 10; antennae rather stouth; segment length ratios: 9:4. 5: 13: 14: 13: 12: 11: 10:11:11:21; no modified or transversal segments; segment I shorter than half the distance between antennái sockets. Pronotum a little broader than long; widest just anterior to the middle, rather constricted anterior to base; disc with 4 distinct but flat impressions; surfacely densely and moderately coarsely punctate; pubescence rather sparse, punctation well visible among hairs. Elytra moderately convex, elongate, widest in posterior 1/3: sides arcuate; surface with coarse punctures; interspaces not plicate, as broad as or wider than puncture diameter; pubescence moderately dense, leaving a few small spots glabrous; these spots very weakly impressed. Legs rather long and slender, scarcely pubescent; tibiae nearly straight, unarmed. Sterna without modifications; last abdominal sternita rounded. Aedeagus: Fig. 11. Habitus: Fig. 14. g. Unknown. , Holotype, S, labelled as follows: "NEW GUINEA (NE) Wau, Mt. Kaindi, 19-24. VIII. 1969"; "(No. NGW-U. 12.) leg. Dr. J. Balogh. It is deposited in HNHM. Remarks: This species is somewhat similar to Bothrichara helleri Borchmann, 1915, but the elytra are less elongate, the elytral punctation is coarser, the antennae are shorter and thicker. Bothrichara intricata sp. n. (Figs 12, 15) Head, pronotum and scutellum black, densely covered by fine, decumbent hairs; elytra dark reddish brown with restricted, decumbent pubescence; surface largely glabrous; ventral surface, legs and antennae dark reddish brown to black, basal part of antennae somewhat paler. Pubescence golden yellowish. Length: 9.5-11.5 mm. S. Head finely and densely punctate; eyes rather convex, transverse; EI= 12: 13; length ratios of antenna! segments: 10: 5: 15: 13: 13: 11: 11: 11:12: 10: 21; no modified or transversal
