Length of body with forceps: in both sexes: 10-17 mm. Distribution: from Western Europe to Central Asia. Anechura lucifer sp. n. Male general colour dark brownish black, except legs dark reddish brown, and tegmina with two dark yellowish patches medially. Cuticle finely punctured and pubescent. Head longer than broad, tumid; postfrontal and coronal sutures narrow but well visible. Eyes comparatively large, but essentially shorter than length of head behind eyes. Lateral margins of head behind eyes converging posterolateral angles. Posterior margin concave. Antennae 12-jointed, first joint typical, shorter than between antennái bases, second quadrate, rest typical of the genus. Pronotum transverse, lateral margins more or less parallel, posterior margin with postero-lateral angles rounded; disc depressed laterally. Median longitudinal furrow indistinct. Tegmina comparatively short, posterior margin finely concave, and postero-humeral angles rounded. Wings present, short, yellow, but with dark longitudinal stripe humerally. Abdomen a little depressed; lateral glandular folds on tergite three very small, on tergite four larger, obtuse. Ultimate tergite transverse with two lateral tubercles near posterior margin. Pygidium transverse, posterior margin finely undulate, posterolateral angles sharp. Penultimate sternite with a concave section medially at posterior margin.Forceps (Fig. 5) more or less straight in lateral view (Fig. 6), in the dorsal view strongly undulate, curved, and armed with a large tooth at apical part ventrally. Genitalia (Fig. 7) well developed,of Anechura-type; central parameral plate comparatively narrow, virga within genital lobe very long, but basal vesicle as in Fig. 8. External paramere of male genitalia fully developed, and excised at inner and outer margins apically. Length of body with forceps: 13-18 mm. Female unknown. Figs 5-8.
