f ' ' Aeolothrlps afghanus sp'. h* • i * Described on the basis of one holotype and one paratype. The types are deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Musem, Budapest. Colouration: Body brown. Dorsal plates of pterothorax and the intermediate abdominal segments are paler. . Antenna! segments- I-. and II.- dark brown, III. yellowish white and the tip'of segment pale brown, the following segments uniformly pale brown. All coxae, femora and tibiae brown with the exception of the white tips of tibiae. All tarsi white. Wings hyaline. Fore wings with a dark wavy band in posterior half, extending from the end of first basal quarter to the tip of the wing, in middle part stikingly narrowed (Fig. 1). (ç>) Head shorter than long, total median L. + 140 u, greatest W. across the middle of cheeks 190 _u, behind eyes 182 y. Prolongation between fore margin of eye and antennái base 25 u. Eyes slightly protruding. L. of eyes 65 u, W. of eyes 56 JJ. Ocelli situated in a regular triangle, their diameter 15-16 u. Two pairs of interocellar, 7 pairs of anteocellar setae and 5 pairs of postocular setae developed, all very fine and short. Dorsum of head set sparsely with short pointed setulae. Mouth cone pointed, reaching behind margin of prothorax, L. 45 JJ. Maxillary palps of three segments. Measurements of I. 45 JJ, II. 27 ,u, III. 12 u. Antennae not very long, L. 297 - 302 ji. Measurements of segments, L. (W.): I. 25 (35); II. 48(25); III. 73(20); IV. 58(20); V. 45(24); VI. 15(17); VII. 12(15), VIII. 16(10); IX. 10(5) fx. Sensory areas of segment III. 27 ji, reaching to 37 % of the segment, of segment IV. 38 _u, reaching to 65 % of the segment. L = length, W = width
