- Antenna! joint 3 twice longer than 2 (fig. 180). Lateral spines half as long as length of propodeum (figs. 177, 181). Pronotum remarkably broader than long (23-25:17). Antennae dark brown, ventral side yellowish brown, with short proclinate hairs (fig. 180) 4 Tergite 2 with uniform punctures, shagreened basally (fig. 178), densely medially and laterally, polished on its posterior quarter. Mesonotal furrow not developed. Anterior margin of pronotum with short and protruded lateral angles (fig. 176), surface rough with some larger and deep punctures. Last abdominal segments black, only posterior margins translucent. 4.5 mm laosensls Móczár, 1975 - Tergite 2 with two kinds of punctures (fig. 179), more densely laterally than medially, interspaces larger than punctures, some smaller punctures present among larger ones, especially laterally. Surface of mesonotum only slightly Impressed medially, with few fine punctures before posterior margin (fig. 181). Anterior corners of pronotum rectangular, surface shagreened with rather deep punctures. Abdominal segments 3-6 dark brown, tergite 1 and posterior margin of 2 dark reddish translucent. This species Is similar to H. karunaratnei Móczár, 1979 especially in colour and partly ln sculpture. After establishing the variability of the next related species: H. karunaratnei it needs the following additions, partly corrections to the original diagnosis of H. rufa

Head 1.10 times longer (fig. 166) than broad (42 : 38); width of eyes about three-quarters of its length (12 : 15), separated from occiput by two-thirds distance of eye length, eye 1.50 times longer than malar space (15 : 10), posterior ocelli separated from each other by a distance threequarters of that from eyes (6 : 8). Pronotum 1.40 times broader than long (28 : 20). Half width of propodeum 1.75 times longer before spines (fig. 167) than length of propodeum medially (28 : 16), latter 1.60 times longer than spines (16 : 10). Tergite 2 with fine punctures on its entire upper surface and with dense and deeper distinct punctures on its lateral sides (fig. 168) excepting the broad polished lateral margin and a small round space medially before posterior margin. 2 . Sri Lanka (MÓCZÁR 1979). After publishing (1979) this species I received further 14 specimens from the same locality: Palatupana, but collected in August, September, October 1980 and April 1981. The length relations compared with the length of propodeum vary among the 16 specimens collected in 5 different periods. How many times the propodeum is longer than the length of spine Is given hereunder: 2729-DÍ-1977 = 1.55 (holotype) 1.63 (paratype); 24-26-VIII-1980 = 1.44, 1.54, 1.55; 16-19-IX-1980 = 1.60; 6-7-X-1980 = 1.55; 29-III-2-IV-1981 = 1.45, 1.45, 1.55, 1.55, 1.57, 1.60, 1.66, 1.71, 1.71. Neither the collecting data nor the length of specimens or the specimens captured in the same time have ony connections with the length relations between propodeum and spine.The same Is valid for the malar space and the eye. The essential differences between H. karunaratnei and H. rufa are given in the key.
