Clypeus, eyes, ocelli normal. Pronotum with longitudinal furrow. Mesonotum, scutellum at most sparsely punctured, sometimes shagreened, only weakly shining, longitudinal furrow only rarely developed, rather appearing as a shallow and broad impression. Lateral spines of propodeum never long, mostly obtuse in lateral view. Parallel carina below lateral and posterior margin of disc ending mostly before spine (fig. 168). Flagellar joints at most slightly thickened medially ( C; ), with proclinate (fig. 180), suberect, exceptionally with erect hairs. Female sometimes with shortened wings. Larger surface of tergite 2 finely, distinctly or deeply punctured, if densely or double-punctured, then interspaces larger than punctures. 29 species are known from the Ethiopian territory (West and South African fauna province), from Oriental territory (Sri Lanka and South-East Indian fauna province), and from Palearctic territory (Euro-turanian- and Mediterraneous region). Out of them 5 species occur In the Oriental territory. Type-species: Cleptes nlgriventris Dahlbom, 1845 Females and males o_: Flagellar joints slightly thickened, antennái joints 4-12 generally broader than long, 2-3 about twice longer than broad. Head, thorax and legs entirely red, abdomen black, last segments partly reddish-brown 5: Flagellum not thickened, antennái joints 3-13 at least or approximately twice longer than broad (flg. 180) .... Wings normal. Eye longer and oval (fig. 166), 1.5 times longer than distance from mandible. Half width of propodeal disc 1.75 times broader than its length (fig. 167). Antenna! joints 2-3 of equal length. Lateral spines of propodeum hardly stumpier and slightly rounded in lateral view (fig. 167), spines two-thirds as long as propodeum medially (10 : 16) or propodeum 1.60 times longer than spine or 1.50 times longer than malar space (fig. 166). Tergite 2 with fine but deeper punctures on its entire upper surface and with dense and deeper distinct punctures on its lateral sides, excepting polished lateral margin and a round area medially before posterior margin. 4 mm rufa Móczár, 1979 Wings short, not reaching beyond tergite 1. Eye smaller and rounder, only hardly longer than broad (12 : 11), separated from occiput by distance of threequarters eye-length, or eyes 1.11-1.13 times broader than malar space.Propodeal disc only 1.21 times broader medially than its half width before spine (fig. 172). Antenna! joint 2 slightly shorter than 3 (7 : 8). Lateral spines acute also in lateral view (fig. 171) and usually two-thirds as long as propodeum, or propodeum 1.44-1.71, exceptionally twice longer than spine. Tergite 2 with distinct and scattered punctures (fig. 170), being denser and deeper laterally, with polished shining area medially before posterior margin, base of posterior margin alutaceous-shagreened. 2.5-4 mm karunaratnel Móczár, 1979 Antennái joints 2-3 not distinctly different. Lateral sides of propodeum nearly parallel, spines divergent (fig. 174), acute, shorter than half length of propodeum (8 : 10). Tergite 2 granulate broadly on the basis (fig. 175), distinctly scattered punctured medially and posteriorly. Pronotum with very dense deep, larger punctures (fig. 173). Wings nearly hyaline. Mandibles dark brown.Surface of propodeum strongly convex, lateral spines lying conspicuously deeper than disc medially. 4.5 mm granulata sp. n.
