decumbent setae. Elytra long, weakly dilated toward apex, with short, only on sides and on apices long setae. Upper thorn of hind tibiae scarcely shorter than hind basitarsi, latter almost as long as following two joints together (in the single known species). 5-5.5 mm. Type of Aphodius namaquarum sp. n. Aphodius namaquarum sp. n. Shiny, brownish yellow, including vertex and disc of pronotum. Genae sharply angulated, front without distinct suture and without tubercle, without knob behind anterior margin. Both sides of emargination rounded. Surface very densely, uniformly punctate, setae very thin. Pronotum broader than long, apical margin weakly convex, curved, sides with hind angles and with strongly convex, curved basis rounded. Basis bordered, apical margin with a rather broad srnooth transversal band. Surface moderately densely punctate, setiferous punctures bigger than on head, mixed with somewhat bigger punctures. Setae similar to those on head. Scutellum triangular, apex sharp. Elytra much longer than broad together (about 3.3:2), weakly broaded to apex, sides straight. Striae not very deeply furrowed with dense punctures. Intervals almost flat, reticulated with rather dense setiferous punctures. Anterior tibiae tridentate, between teeth and on basis serrate. Apical margin of hind tibiae strongly notched, notches with a short, fine bristle each. Hind basitarsi somewhat longer than upper thorn and about as long as following two joints together. Length: 5-5.5 mm. - Examined material 251 specimens. Types: Holotype and 250 paratypes: S. Afr. Namaq. coast, Gemsbok vlatke frm., 30 30'S17°29'E, 28.10.1977, E-Y Nr. 1400, at light, leg. Endrődy-Younga. Aphodius (Cinacanthus) rakovici sp. n. Yellow, shiny, vertex and a round discal spot on pronotum dark. Apex of clypeus emarginated, both sides of emargination rounded, genae rounded, but produced behind eyes. Frontal suture very fine, clypeal knob distinct. Surface very finely reticulated with a few very small punctures. Pronotum much broader than long, apical margin and unbordered basis lightly convex, curved, sides almost straight, converging to apex. Anterior angles obtuse, scarcely produced, hind angles lightly emarginated. Apical margin and basis without border. Sculpture of surface very similar to that on head, but on sides stronger than in the middle. Scutellum triangular. Elytral striae moderately deep, on apex not deeper than on disc, distinctly punctate. Intervals weakly convex, on apex nearly flat, finely reticulated and very sparsely and finely punctate. Anterior tibiae tridentate, apical spur also in male normal, not strongly backwards placed. Apical bristles of hind tibiae unequal. Hind basitarsi somewhat shorter than upper thorn of hind tibiae and about as long as following three joints together, beneath in male with dense, in female with scanty, rather long bristles. Length: 6.5-8 mm. - Examined material 46 specimens. Types: Holotype and 43 paratypes: S.W. Afr. Kaokoveld Ohopoho 122 km, SSE. 18°20'S14 02'E, 5.2.1975, E-Y 617, horse dung, leg. Endrődy-Younga. 1 paratype with the same data, but in cattle dung. 1 paratype: S.W. Afr. Etosha Okaukuejo camp, 29.11.1976, Dixon. Similar to A . roeri m ., but in latter the elytral striae on both sides very finely carinated, hind basitarsi much shorter than following three joints together, sides of pronotum with long setae, etc. Very similar also to A . massaicus Gerstäcker, but in this species the genae are more produced, striae of elytra on apex much deeper than on disc, intervals more shiny, more convex, etc. It is separated from both by the dense and long bristles on the underside of the hind basitarsi. Aphodius (Blackburneus) bernoni sp. n. Bright yellowish brown, shiny, elytra oily, surface bald. Apical margin of clypeus in the middle truncated or scarcely emarginated, both sides broadly rounded, genae angulated, strongly produced behind eyes. Frontal suture very fine, indistinct,
