and netting). In the beds of the small streams thicker gallery belts appear. The light trap was erected near a small stream overlooking a more elevated dry area with a yam field. The trap was operated with a pressure kerosene lamp of 250 candle power. The line of soil traps ran through the same area, from the centre of a yam field down to the marshy bed of the stream. The collections of coprophagous insects were made on the pasture area of the village. In contrast with the green of the rainy season, the savanna is burned and black in the dry period. 6. Bobiri forest reserve: Ashanti region N. 6.40, W. 1.15, Alt.: 700 ft (213 m). Semideciduous forest zone. The nearest forest reserve to Kumasi, being about 20 miles from it on the main Accra road. The forest is in a very good condition and represents several ecological types, from the dry gentle slopes to the marshy stream beds. Por the propagation of the valuable industrial tree species, the worthless trees are thinned in some areas. Por this purpose, the bark of trees of varying age and size is cut around for poison application (sodium arsenite) and the trees are left to die and fall. Pour selected trees of this sort have been collected during 3 and a half years, from shortly after cutting up to the fallen stage (coll.no.: 66, 77, 85, 114, 140, 182, 257, 309). Many collections have been made by netting and beating on the road sides, singled and sifted collections on decaying and fungous trunks and in compost and fruits. The small streams yielded very good material from shore washing and water collections. 7. Bosumtwe lake: Ashanti region N. 6.30, W. 1.22, Alt.: 340 ft (104 m). Semideciduous forest zone. Only one visit has been paid to the lake, with a few collections made. The curious origin of the lake and its closed water system indicates that it would certainly merit a
