detailed faunistical investigation. Some fishes of the lake are claimed to be indigenous geographical races. 8. Bodomase: Ashanti region N. 6.54, W. 1.14, Alt.: 1,250 ft (381 m) . Transitional belt. Bodomase lies a few miles north of the northern watershed of the central upland. The,,vegetation reflects its transi•tional climatic position. The slopes of the scarp in the south are still covered by high forests stretching down into the valleys. The flat hills of the lowland are covered by grass, with scattered groups of trees and bushes (netting and singled collections of tree barks). Bodomase was a site for the Institute's cereal stem borer experiments. 9. Bui camp: Brong-Ahafo region N. 8.17, W. 2.15, Alt.: 350 ft (106 m). Northern woody savanna zone. The camp was built near a gorge at the Black Volta for the preparatory works of dam construction. The site is near Banda-Nkwanta , but on the other side of the river, and the vegetation is similar except that the slopes of the surrounding ranges are covered more densely by short trees and bushes, with taller ones in the depressions (netting and beating). The Bui light trap (with pressure kerosene lamp) was situated on the right bank of the river, at the foot of a hill, overlooking the river and the grassland in its flat valley. 10. Bunsu: Eastern region N. 6.17, W. 0.28, Alt.: 690 ft (210 m) . Semideciduous forest zone. The Bunsu area is one of the most humid parts of the semideciduous forest zone. The mountain ranges (rising about 2.000 ft, 600 m) and the valleys are covered with dense high forest, preserved in natural condition in large forest reserves. The area being a centre of cocoa production, the
