1 6 from the long bone dimensions of the Kecel—Rózsaberek aurochs bull are given in Tables 7 and 8. Among the long bones the length of stylopodia, therefore also the wh values calculated from them, give the maximum Wh values for the Early Holocene. The maximum Wh values of the Early Holocene aurochs population found at Őrjég are yielded also by the length value of Rózsaberek humerus. As for forelegs the length of humerusradius-metacarpus and the wh value calculated from them decrease gradually in prox. — dist. direction. The average wh is 1608,9 mm. As for quarters; the absolute dimensions of long bones naturally decrease in prox.-dist. direction; but the Wh values calculated from them decrease in the following order: metatarsus-femur-tibia. The average Wh is 1551 mm, which is lower than those observed among foreleges. The average Wh of the Kecel-Rózsaberek aurochs bull is 1587,2 mm. The difference between the average Wh of forelegs and hind quarters is 58 mm. The cave paintings demonstrate that the withers of aurochs was higher than their tuber coxae. It is highly probable that this is the reason for the lower position of the hind quarters of the Kecel-Rózsaberek aurochs. Table 3.
