In short, during my experiments I closed one of the ends of the instrument using modern flutes as models. In this way a new possibility was created to try more voices than had been the case during earlier experiments. I think it probable, however, that originally both ends were closed since in case of an open end the covering of the finger-hole № 1 (Fig, 1,b) results a slight difference in pitch since it is situated very close to the end of the instrument. During his experiments, Z.
