Párducz Mihály: Hunkori halmok Vaskút határában

104 M. Párducz tity of ashes on them. Corpses were probably also laid on such pedestals. We know analogous resting-places, for instance, from the tumulus G 5 of Usatovo (Fig. 20, no. 2.) and from Kenkol. (Fig. 20, nos. 3—4.) These sites, however, lack the S-shaped cramps, the boards of the resting-place were interlocked as the figures clearly show. In the burial chambers skeletons buried in sitting positions were also found. The above mentioned characteristics, the way of burying the dead (in a sitting position) and the finds presented here enable us to assign the following cemeteries or tumuli of the Great Plain to this group: Jászalsószentgyörgy, Bácsmadaras, Apatin, Kiszács and Vajszka. The mounds excavated in the vicinity of Geszteréd belong possibly also to this sort of barrows. The gravegoods found in the barrows enumerated here (first of all the pottery) also confirm our dating these to the end of the fourth century.
