V.-K о V a c s, E.: Mutual connections between disturbances of speech and orthodontic anomalies The paper is based upon combined logopedic and orthodontic study of 363 juveniles, aged 3 to 18 years. In early childhood, maxillary prognathia was found in association with tongue thrust swallow and interdental sigmatism, whereas at postpubertal age reduction of maxillary dental arch width, high palatal vault, excessive overbite was accompanied by Sigmatismus stridens. Better results were obtained by a combined logopedig/orthodontic therapy than by conventional methods, in interceptive orthodontics at early ages but collaboration proved to be advantageous at later ages also. In order to enhance such a collaboration, basic principles of logopedics should be included into the dental curriculum (leading to a DDS graduation). V. Kovács, E.: Über die Beziehungen zwischen Sprache und orthodontischen Anomalien An Hand der Untersuchung von 363, drei bis 18jährigen Kindern wurden zwei beachtliche Konnexe zwischen Sprache und orthodontischen Anomalien gefunden. Im Kindergartenalter lagen Prognathie, mit Zungenvorstoss verknüpfter Schluckakt und interdentaler Sigmatismus gemeinsam vor, nach der Pubertät hinwiederum Kieferenge, Tiefbiss, hoher Gaumen und Sigmatismus stridens. Komplexe — logopädisch-orthodontische — Frühbehandlung hat bessere Ergebnisse gezeitigt als die zuvor üblichen Behandlungsverfahren ergeben haben. Die Kollaboration zwischen den Vertretern der beiden Disziplinen ist auch bei Spätbehandlungen vorteilhaft. Um diese Zusammenarbeit zu fördern, wird der Unterricht logopädischer Grundbegriffe in der zahnärztlichen Ausbildung als wünschenswert erklärt.
