A FÉRFISZÖVETSÉG ROVATA I • Rovatvezető: Marosi Béla ' ’ 132985 Charmwood Oval, Solon, OH 44149 ' > Elnök: Novák László ' ’ Alelnök: Tóth György , I Pénztáros—jegyző: Panla István A clevelandi új imaház Széljegyzetek A clevelandi Bethánia Gyülekezet 1989. november 26-án nyitotta meg ünnepélyes keretek között az újonnan megvásárolt imaházat. Nem akarom a krónikásokat beszámolójuk lehetőségétől megfosztani, csupán csak néhány észrevételt szeretnék megemlíteni. Becslésem szerint kb. 200-an vettek részt a gyülekezet örömnapján. Az ünneplő testvérek nagy része reggel 10 órától késő estig volt együtt. Az ünnepélyen a detroiti és a torontói gyülekezetből érkezetteken kívül ott voltak az Amerikai Magyar Baptista Szövetség chicagói és New York-i képviselői, az AMBSZ elnökével, Kulcsár Sándor lelkipásztorral az élen. Amint már említettem, nem az ünnepély részleteiről kívánok írni. Oláh Lajos torontói lelkipásztor beszéde régi, magyarországi emlékeimet idézte vissza, amikor megmagyarázta, hogy a KÜRT hasábjain ő miért szerepel, mint „evangélista”. Oláh testvér azt mondta, hogy a régi időkben minden lelkipásztor evangélista volt. Az igehirdetők evangélisták voltak a szó szoros értelmében. Az evangélisták főcélja az evangélium hirdetése, annak terjesztése és nem tudományos fokozatok megszerzése volt. Ők nem dicsekedtek a 15 dollárért megvásárolt doktori címekkel. Ezt természetesen nem úgy kell érteni, hogy a lelkipásztorok ne legyenek képzettek, és csak akkor igazi evangélisták, ha nincsen előképzettségük. A hangsúly azon van, hogy elsődleges legyen Isten Igéjének a terjesztése, és legyen másodlagos a tudományos fokozatok elnyerése. Egy kérdés merül fel bennem: Miért nincs ma Kornya Mihályunk? Isten áldása legyen a clevelandi Bethánia Gyülekezeten és annak lelkipásztorán. Kívánom, hogy növekedjenek számban és Dreschet Lajos Jobban tetszik nekem a béketűrés s a: alázatosság a bajban, mint a nagy vigasztalódás és ájtatosság a jó sorsban. Kempis Tamás November The circle of Bethesda encompasses most of life’s experiences. With 70 different personalities and different degrees of measurable health, each person needs assistance in some form, from time to time. These services rendered make us even more aware of the true meaning of Thanksgiving. Altogether, we are thankful for your prayerful support as we witness our needs being met one by one; for the special weather with which we are blessed; for the time of sharing joys and sorrows; for loved ones near and far; for daily food and drink so graciously provided by so many of you as you remember Bethesda. May God richly bless you and may HE replenish your daily reserve. Veterans Day was a three-fold celebration. It was the day of our first Craft and Cookie Sale under the direction of Evelyn McHugh, Activities Director, and Mrs. Ethel Kish. The residents displayed their handiwork and Mrs. Kish set up an extravagant and colorful baked goods table. There was a medley of delicious pastries contributed by our Bethesda Ladies Aid, residents and their families. Coffee, tea and punch were available for those who wished to “taste and see” as they browsed through the display. The second part was the entertainment group THE PENGUINS which masterfully expressed some beautiful patriotic songs and prose. Thirdly, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dudics, prepared a special program for the men veterans in the church fellowship hall and the lady vets in the library for entertainment and refreshments. We are most thankful for these special folk who give of their time and talent. They add much happiness to our daytime hours. Thankgiving Day, The Home hosted 30 guests. Twelve were friends from the Bethesda Chapel and eighteen were family members of our residents. Sixteen of our dwellers joined families away from Bethesda to enjoy fellowship with loved ones. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Wing had four generations present at their table. Their grandson, Mikey Wheeler, age 8, presented our people with a colorful Thanksgiving Day card and a 15”x 12” papier maché turkey made specifically for ALL our residents with all his love. Children are always welcome because they spread their hugs to everyone without strings attached... Mark 10:16 “And he took the little children up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.” at Bethesda Sunday evening, November 26, our residents were invited to a special night of music in the Chapel... Linda Humphrey and Bill Bargabos of Outdoor Resorts of Melbourne Beach presented a most re-Ethel Kish, Jolán Selpal, Jane Forgács, Esther Baker — Craft & Cookie Sale Day freshing program of contemporary music and much loved hymns utilizing their own sound tract and also accompanied by Mrs. Bill Bargabos as they sang the hymns. In the audience were many friends from the Outdoor Resorts where Pastor Barton Brown ministered prior to his coming to Bethesda Chapel. Linda and Bill were warmly received and we pray the Lord will continue to anoint their ministry in music. With the Christmas Season just around the comer, we are removing all stored Christmas decorations and for this busy season, two new volunteers have been added to write notes and address greeting cards for those with imparied eyesight and those who are unable to continue this important link of communication with family and friends. We thank these two fine ladies, Margaret Lonergan and Helen Wagner, for reaching out in this special way. They were bubbling with enthusiasm and spoke of their faith in Jesus Christ, who has helped them through some dark valleys. May God richly bless you all with His unconditional love and may Christ become more real and personal to you this blessed season.
