1978. április 1. EVANGÉLIUMI HÍRNÖK 5. oldal Misszió mezőkről. “Az Elnök üzenete“ As I write this, February 23, I have just returned from Florida, where I participated in the meetings of the committees of the Hungarian Baptist Union of America. We missed the usual warm sunshine. This time God gave us rain. Blessed be His name! We did not have much sunshine outside, but the warmth and beauty of the sunshine of God's love were very evident in all our meetings. The Rev. John Hunter, pastor of our Alhambra Church, and Chairman of the Missions and Literary Committee, guided our deliberations with a firm and steady hand and a patient and understanding spirit. We examined old and new areas and possibilities of Service for Christ among Hungarian people. It was good to see everybody, members of the Bethesda Baptist Church, residents and employees of the Bethesda Baptist Home, and all who came to attend the meetings. It gave us special joy to see the Rev. John Cserepka, Missionary and minister, our fellowworker, from Toronto. He is recovering from a very serious car accident, and we are praying that the way may be opened for him to do that which is closest to his heart—to preach the Gospel to Hungarian people. The Executive Committee was not able to hold an official meeting. Some of the members could not get there on time, and Dr. Alexander Haraszti could not come at all because of illness. However, we did call a larger group of our officers and committee members together, and I am happy to inform you of the following affirmations and decisions: “God willing” the next annual meeting of the Hungarian Baptist Union will be held in the Hungarian Baptist Camp in Rama, Ontario, Canada. For our Union’s ruling on this, see the minutes of the 1977 meeting, page 33, No. 5. The convention will be called to order on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock on July 5. We will bring our gathering to a close with, the always outstanding program of our women, Friday evening July 7, 1978. The theme for this 70th anniversary meeting will be: “GREAT IS THY FAITHFULLNESS.” The text is: Lamentations 3:22—23. We hope to have a convention hymn with the same title. The proposed program will appear shortly in the Gospel Messenger. I shall come to you with more information. Our gracious host, the First Hungarian Baptist Church of Toronto, Ontario, Canada will come to you with information and for your request concerning your wishes and needs for transportation and sleeping accommodations. Please respond promptly. Plan to attend the camp program which will precede the Convention program in time, but stay through until Friday night. If our meeting in Florida can be an indication of what is ahead in cooperation, mutual respect and brotherly and sisterly kindness and understanding, we can look forward to a time of beautiful Christian fellowship. Please pray daily for the churches in our Union, for me and the other officers and committee members, and for the annual meeting. If God is for and with us, nothing can hurt us. Yours in Christian love and service, William B. Molnár Pres. Your strong love for each other will prove to the world that you are my disciples...” (John 14:34 — 35). These words of Jesus to His disciples seem very appropriate, for what greater love and discipleship have we witnessed than the generous support that many of you have given to our Detroit brethren as they proceed on faith in their purchasing of a new House of Worship. Your gifts are making their dream a reality. In turn, the Lord will richly bless each and everyone for the concern and generosity shown. To the many who read these lines, helping our friends in Detroit may not have been possible. We humbly ask that you make every effort to help in any manner that you are able. Regardless, we ask that you put the success of this undertaking on your prayer list. Your prayers are needed and will be greatly appreciated. Paul’s words to the Corinthians are as true today as they were thousands of years ago.... “God does love a cheerful giver...” The following have donated
