Fogadják a testvérek hálás köszönetünket a lapokért...” (Sao Paulo, 1978. január 3.) * * * A MEGTETT ÚT Az Édenben hangzott el és Isten mondta ki először a döntő megállapítást: “Nem jó az embernek egyedül lenni, szerzek néki segítő társat.” 25 évvel ezelőtt két fiatal, Conrád István és Varga Zsuzsanna is így gondolkodott: nem jó egyedül. És miután egymásra találtak, megfogva egymás kezét, elindultak az ismeretlen jövő felé. Az éveket évek követ-Conrád István és neje. ték. Az életutat együtt járták. Az úttal együtt kopott az ifjúság, a szépség, az egészség is, de nem fogyott el a szeretet. Egy negyedszázados utazásban sok úti élmény adódik. A ragyogó napsütést vihar váltja fel. Meleg nyár, téli zimankó, hófúvás, síkos út, rendszerint váltják egymást. Hogy ezeken az útszakaszokon hogyan küzdötték át magukat, volt-e ütközés, sérülés, ezt csak testvéreink tudják egyedül. Akkor az Úr házából indultak el ketten és most, 25 év múlva újból az Úr előtt állnak, de már egy nyolc tagú család. Ez önmagában is Isten gondviselő szeretetéről tanúskodik. Az elindulásuk 1952. október 25-én volt Sao Pauloban, Brazíliában. Ott fogadtak először hűséget egymásnak és most 1977. okt. 23-án Lincoln Parkban megerősítették ezt a hűségfogadalmat. A jubiláló házaspárt gyermekeik vezették be a Magyar Baptista Gyülekezet új templomába. Első ünnepi alkalom volt ez az új helyen. A bevonulás után a gyülekezet pásztora magyar nyelven szólt a jubilálókhoz és a megjelentekhez. Többek között azt mondva, hogy ezüst menyegzőkön szívesen adna mirtusz koszorút a menyasszonynak, mert ilyenkor már megérdemelten kapná. Utána Herjeczki testvérék elénekelték az “Édes otthonom” c. alkalmi éneket. Majd Marton Sándorné szólóban énekelte a 23. zsoltárt angolul. Ezek után Rév. James W. Jones angol pásztor a szokásos amerikai házasságkötési szertartást megismételve új hűségfogadalomra szólította a jubilálókat, igei tanácsokkal látta The “Hungarian Church Press” (Budapest) September 15th issue contains a statement in English by Mr. Emery Miklós, Chairman of the Office of the Church Affairs. We quote one paragraph of Mr. Miklós’ remarks: State Secretary Miklós explains in detail that the church policy of the Hungarian state is based on principles and is averse both to unprincipled compromises and purely tactical considerations. “The economic foundations of the communist society of the future seems as yet to be far away ahead of us. In the course of the development towards that end we should take for granted the presence of the religious ideology. But we stress that we by no means regard this as a permanent state of affairs but hold that trend—which may also involve transitional fluctuations—works, as by law, for the victory of the scientific world view, of the ‘transparaently relations’ (sicl Ed.) and the dissipation of the ‘mystical blanket of fog’. It is only by taking this approach that we can take the position that, as to investigating the possible relationship between Marxist and Christianity, their inherent ideological contradictions exclude the possibility of an ideological convergence. The communists do not give up their effort to spread their scientific world view, but they do not wish that Christians give up the practice of their religion. ” We appreciate Mr. Miklós’ statement. It is a straightforward affirmation of Marxist views. It reemphasises what is known that Marxism and religious ideology do not and never will mix. It states with unequivocal words that areligious Marxist system will prevail. el őket, majd imádkozott értük. Mindezek után a jubiláló testvérek brazil ételkülönlegességekkel látták vendégül a meghívottakat imaházunk alagsorában. Ez a bensőséges családi ünnepség egy percnyi megálló volt arra, hogy a megtett útra hálaadással visszatekintsenek és folytassák az utat tovább. Mi pedig Conrád testvérék további életére menynyei Atyánk áldását kérjük. Molnár Antalné krónikás The quoted paragraph tells us: 1. The establishment of Communist society is yet “far away ahead.” 2. For the time being Marxist governments have to recognize the presence of religious ideology. 3. The followers of Marx did not give up their belief that “scientific world view” (euphemism for atheism) will be victorious over faith and religion. 4. Admits that Marxism and Christianity never can be brought to a common denominator. “The inherent ideological contradictions exclude the possibility of an ideological convergence.” We sincerely thank Mr. Miklós for his renewed exposition of Marxist standpoint, and we respect his openness. It is good for all of us to know where we stand. We take courage from the above quotation. If in Russia after 60 and in Hungary after 30 years of extolling the “truth” of atheism, religious ideology still must be “taken for granted”; we Christians can look with confidence toward the coming years. Christians after the experiences of the last 30, 60 years do not ask even for equal chances for existence. They will prosper under any system or circumstances. História est magister vitae! There is a reference in Mr. Miklós’ exposé as to the “victory of the scientific world view” as “by law”. That needs clarification. Which law did Mr. Miklós have in mind: state or natural? B. U.
