POZDER PÉTER EGER MUNKAERŐVONZÁSI KÖRZETE ABSTRACT: (EGER'S SPHERE OF ATTRACTION OF LABOUR) The author has been investigating the central functions of Eger, one of Hungary's oldest towns, the county town of Heves County. The purpose of his research has been to define the sphere of attraction of Eger. The present paper presents the sphere of attraction of labour of Eger. An unsettled question in the field of research into spheres of attraction is the question of labour. Yet, figure 1 demonstrating the sphere of attraction has been constructed. It is important to study the attraction of labour in Eger because a strengthening of conncnctions between towns and nearby villages has become a general feature in Hungary since the 1970's. Településföldrajzi kutatásaim során hazánk egyik legrégibb városának, Heves megye székhelyének, Egernek központi funkcióit vizsgáltam. Eger a történelem folyamán mindig városi, központi szerepkörrel rendelkezett. Fő célom az volt, hogy Eger komplex vonzáskörzetét meghatározzam az 1980-as évek elején betöltött funkciói alapján. Kutatásaimat az is indokolja, hogy Eger központi szerepköre és földrajzi fekvése ellentmondásos. A város mind a megye, mind a tágabb környezetének viszonylatában periférikus helyzetű: Heves és Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén megye határán fekszik.
