Marijan Rastić, Preuzimanje građe u arhivsku ustanovu. Arhivski vjesnik, 29/1986. str. 37—56. SUMMARY THE TAKING INTO CUSTODY ARCHIVE MATERIALS BY THE ARCHIVE INSTITUTIONS • The author pleads for a more complex attitude concerning the taking into custody the archive materials and explains this as a logical and methodical end to a long procedure of preservation of archive and records kept outside the archive institutions. The author thinks that the taking over depends on a large number of elements on the line owner-archive institution. The author insists on the importance of statioeig priorities of custody over an archive that is to be found at the owners and of course to the very act of taking over. The author doesn't discuss here the other elements and acttions (selection, stock-taking etc). Because of a wide range of owners found under the territorial custody of the archive institution, and a rather small number of specialized archive workers, the author insists on the valorization of the documents found outside the archive institution, a step further towards the categorizatioe of the owners. The authors opinion is that archive institutions should pas special attention to the situation of archives and records kept by social and political organizations on all levels of the Republic, as well as those found at courts of law of all types and ranks, and other self-managing organizations on all levels of the Republic (taking special care of the extreme value of such materials). When numbering the social and political organizations on all levels of the Republic, the author includes their belonging administrative units, such as Zavod za katastar (The Land-register Office), Urbanistički zavod (Institute of Urban Planning) etc. The author also suggests that special attention has to be payed to the documents of the previous town district comunities in Croatia, the documents of which are quite interesting for archive institutions, although somewhat complicated in regard to the lack of corresponding depos that is a frequent characteristic of most Croatian Archives. Another difficulty is the levai of security. There is one more problem and that is the need to continue with the evidence of archive documents kept in museums, libraries, institutes, religious comunities, private holders etc. After a short review of actions taken so far by the archive services, especially in the period 1967—1981, dealing with the evidentation od such documents, the author insists that this activity be continued since only part of the job has been done. This is necessary to carry out the needed actions in the field of protecting archive documents, especially in cases of sudden danger as well as for reasons of rationalization of such research. In our archivistic theory very little attention is paid to the taking over of documents. It is interesting to mention that authors usually
