12 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD Autobiography of Csaba Krasznai I was bom in Eger, Hungary. I went to Zsigmond Remenyik High School in Füzesabony, Hungary. It was during my high school years that the desire to study the Holy Word of God matured in me. Along with this desire, the decision for Jesus Christ and His cause took place in my heart. In the meantime it became apparent in my life that I was to apply to the Reformed Theological Academy in Debrecen. I graduated from Debrecen Reformed Theological University, Hungary in 1998 earning a Master of Divinity degree. After my theological studies, I was awarded a scholarship from the Dr. Tibor Chikes Memorial Foundation to study at the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. I earned a Master of Theological Studies degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude. During that time, I was also the co-pastor of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Washington, D.C. where I served with the late Rev. Dr. Imre Bertalan. After my scholarship studies, I served in the Hungarian United Church of Toronto, Canada, first as a supply pastor and later as senior pastor. Following my assignment as the supply pastor in the Toronto church coming to an end, I returned to Budapest to the Gazdagrét Reformed Church where I served as an assistant pastor. I was also engaged with the Campus Crusade for Christ in Hungary. I served in the Jesus Film project. In 2003 I began my pastoral ministry at the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Cleveland, Ohio. In 2007 I began my Doctor of Ministry studies at Ashland Theological Seminary. I earned my doctoral degree in January of 2010. The topic of my dissertation was: “Equipping Pastors to Train Lay Leaders for Ministry in a Small Group Setting in the American Hungarian Reformed Churches.” In 2007 I was elected as Dean of the Lakeside Classis and in April of 2010 I was reelected for an additional three year term. In 2009 I was elected as Treasurer of the Hungarian Ministerial Association and in May of 2010, at the annual Calvin Synod Conference, I was elected as the new Auxiliary Bishop. My dear wife, Beata graduated from Ferenc Kölcsey Reformed Teacher Training College, Debrecen. In addition to her teaching qualification, she also received a diploma in religious education. She is currently doing her Masters in School Counseling at Cleveland State University. We have been married since May of 2000 and have three children: Ráhel, Joel, and Olivia. Flooding in Hungary Update from Rt. Rev. Dr. Csaba Krasznai Dear Members of Our Calvin Synod Congregations: Many of us have heard about the recent and terrible floods that hit the villages and fields of Hungary. Many houses collapsed or were seriously damaged. There was about 3-4 feet water in most of the houses inside and outside. In addition to that, most of the fields - fields of com, wheat, barley and more - were under water. People worked to save their houses and fields, but unfortunately they were not successful. In spite of the cooperation and hard work, the damage is unspeakably huge. Much help is needed as many people have lost so much - their houses, personal belongings and crops. Our brethren need our help and prayers, most definitely! Donations may be sent to the Calvin Synod Treasurer, Lisa Susan Toth-Maskerinec: 1836 Timothy Drive, West Mifflin, PA 15122; tel.:412-872-5644. Yours in Christ, Rt. Rev. Dr. Csaba Krasznai Auxiliary Bishop Homeland and Overseas Mission Coordinator T
