Britt of Manville; Reverend Peter Maurer Confirmation Service at Manville Reformed Church on May 27, 2007 Great excitement loomed within the walls of the sanctuary at the Manville Reformed Church in Manville, New Jersey on May 27, 2007. Their exuberance was three-fold. On the church calendar it was a holiday, the day of Pentecost; a joyous occurrence in itself, as many remember the birth of the Christian Church. (Acts 2:1-22). As the Holy Spirit filled the hearts of those that were before, the Spirit filled the hearts of four young people. They had prepared themselves through prayer and worship for this day; the day of acceptance into the body of Christ and into His church. Officiating the ceremony of confirmation and the Sacrament of Holy Communion were Rev. Peter G. Maurer and Rev. Anikó Kocsis. In celebration of Pentecost the congregation was then invited to the Lords Table to receive Holy Communion. Memorial weekend topped the celebration, as all servicemen, past and present, were honored for their heroic triumphs. The are seen as heroes of the Christian faith in their willingness to give of themselves for the sake of others and the blessing of freedom. Services concluded as the congregation stood to honor our flag with the Pledge of Allegiance. Light refreshments were served afterward in the Fellowship Hall to honor the new members, the glorious day of Pentecost and Memorial Day. Kathleen A. Donovan TRAC Updates Diaspora Mission at Cege On Sunday, March 4, at 9 a.m., we went to diaspora mission together with David Sipos (the driver), Attila Erdei, Csaba Barabas and myself, László Berszan. While we were going with the car we discussed what we needed to announce after the service, and where and when we should meet. I stopped at Cege and went to visit Mrs. Zsuzsa, the currator. We had time enough, almost an hour until the service started, so we could speak a little. I’m always glad to have discussions with these people because they can tell me interesting things, and I can learn from them how they see everyday-life. We discussed the congregation’s problem. At 11 o’clock the service started. The text was from 1 Moses 4, 9. We had Lord’s Supper too. There were around 8 people. A family invited me for lunch and I accepted it gladly. Because of the mud we could hardly go to the house. While we had lunch we spoke about many things. We had to communicate in the Romanian language because the son-in-law of the old woman was Romanian. We talked about the family and its problems. Time passed so quickly. It was 13:30 and with my colleges decided to meet at 13:00. Fortunately they waited for me and we went back to Cluj. László Berszan, 3d year A New Reformed Congregation For a long time, I didn’t write because we had a lot of things to do in the diaspora. I have good news for you, though. In February, the diaspora congregation became a new and separate Reformed congregation. That means that in September, I will be the pastor there. God has a lot of blessings for us. In January, we started to look for buildings which would be good for a diaspora center, and finally, thanks to God, we have brought one very old house (it is from mud) which is the first step in the organizing of the diaspora center. I have included a photograph. The congregation name is: TOLDINAGYFALUI REFORMED MISSION CHURCH. Toldinagyfalu is the old name of the village where we bought the house. After my last exam we will start a lot of new things. God bless you! Farkas Zsolt PRAYER We are grateful to You, our Heavenly Father, that You have blessed us with friendly hearts and the joy that we experienced through them, shows us what a happiness it is to our souls and to be amazed at their friendship. We pray to You to be able to meet in Him and to connect our hearts with the golden strings of His love here on earth and in Eternity, Amen. Why are you called Christian? Because, by faith, I am a member of Christ and thus part of his appointment, to be a testimony of His name, to give myself as a grateful sacrifice to Him and to flee with pure conscious from sin and the devil during my lifetime, and to reign with Him over all creations for eternity. [H.C., L.D.12: Q. 32] Love, Gall Mihály and Maria
