Our Gracious Heavenly Father! We, Thy here assembled sons and daughters, deeply conformed Calvinists, do now humbly descend on our knees before Thee in Spirit and in Truth. This is the Place, where the cradle was rockedfor two-hundred churches on this New Continent exactly One Century-three months and twenty days ago. This is the Day for exultant Celebration, brought upon us by the sudden and dramatic changes of our present history. “This is — indeed — the Day, the Lord hast made! Let us be — extremely — glad in it and let us — fully — rejoice in it!” This is the Man, Thou hast given us! the first ruling Bishop of our Mother-Church, freely elected by a free Church in a free Nation! After a life-span of onerous oppression by tyrannical troops of a subjugating System, now forever fallen! Thanks be to Holy Trinity three times! Here and now we warmly embrace Dr. Lóránt Hegedűs, the Head- and Messenger of our dearly beloved Mother-Church from across the Ocean. O Lord! We are begging Thy tenderest blessings upon the expectancy of this dedicated moment. Hear our Prayer! May now these bright and beautiful stained-glasses around, filtering the light from the sun, reflect the enduring splendor of this Sanctuary so that they may betoken our faith and love for Thee! Give us the insight to recognize all Thy spiritual graces at this special Divine Service. Take now, O Lord, this new Leader of the flock of our own blood and Faith! Replenish and reconsecrate him; support, sanctify him for the years ahead! Let this Leader and those whom he will lead with their immortal souls be the instruments of the coming of Thy Kingdom on this earth through that Land which will always remain the closest to our hearts and souls until we enter into Thy Heavenly Kingdom above. Today here we also honor those who went before us, who built before us, among them those great bishops of our Mother-Land, who came to see us: László Ravasz, Dezső Balthazár and others following in their footsteps. Let their memories be always blessed in our midst. Let their good deeds forever remain, let their noble endeavors forever inspire! Teach us, O God, to build now on the solid rock, making us builders of temples still undone, ‘we set the dream that hardens into deed, O keep us building, may our hands never falter, when the Dream is in our hearts!’ * Örökkévaló Istenünk! Jóságos Édes-Atyánk! Mi, távoli magyarok, itt a tengernyiszéles Erie-tó partján, itteni magyar reformátusok fellegvárában, várjuk nagy szolgádnak Igehirdető Szózatát a boldogabb jövendő reménységének igézetes jelképeként. Amikor most emlékezetünkben akarva-nemakarva ,visszasereglik mindaz, ami tovatűnt’ — könyörgünk — legyen itt most jelen ,a Múlt a bölcs Jelennek jó tanulsága, hogy felépüljön a remélt Jövő!’ „Sok erőt adj, Urunk! És sok alázatot! / Ne áldozat legyen, ami jó, hanem jóság! / Ha elküldöttél, teljék bennem kedved! / Legszebb hiteimet fonja át valóság!” Ősi énekünk szavaival kiáltunk hát Hozzád, hogy amikor áldott vendégünk ajkáról Igédre hallgatunk: Te magad „gerjeszd fel most indulatunk” — úgy mint soha máskor — és „vegyen bennünk épületet a Hit, Reménység és Szeretet” saját házunknak cselédjei iránt, „tégy bölcsekké! tégy szentekké!” A Te szent Fiadnak, a mi Urunknak, a Krisztus Jézusnak áldott nevében. Ámen!
