Bethlen Almanac 2001 (Ligonier)

Közép Egyházmegye - Central Classis

I pray that our congregational members feel a link to our predecessors who founded the church. I sense that the founders of our church would be proud to be a part of our church life. God bless the memory of their dedication. Endre Csornán, Chief Elder A Teremtő kegyelméből a múlt esztendő, (2001) sikeres évnek számítható. Hálát adunk Istennek az Ő áldásaiért és kérjük segítségét egyházi életünk folytatására. Csornán Endre fógondnok HOMESTEAD, PENNSYLVANIA The First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead Munhall, Pennsylvania Permanent Part-Time Minister: Rev. Alexander Jalso Chief Elder: Earl V. Jones, Jr. The First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead, PA is happy to report that we continue to survive, slowly but surely. We are most fortunate to have Reverend Alexander Jalso, who has been with us for 2 years and continues to provide the congregation with an incentive to come to church each Sunday. Our Congregation lost seven members due to death this year, one of which, was the former Assistant Treasurer of our church, Anna Margaret Phillips. However, we are pleased to report that our membership has increased with the addition of Rev. Jalso’s son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Suzanne Jalso. Rev. Jalso baptized 3 children this year. Each Sunday, we have a coffee hour after the church service which enables the members to have an opportunity to socialize with one another. The congregation eagerly looks forward to this social time. On Mother’s Day, the men had a catered luncheon for the Mothers of our Church and on Father’s Day, the ladies of the church prepared a scrumptious luncheon for the men. Throughout the year we have various luncheons, parties and our Annual Church picnic. We were also happy to be represented at the Calvin Synod Meeting in May by Rev. Jalso and our treasurer, Lisa S.
