Bethlen Almanac 2001 (Ligonier)

Közép Egyházmegye - Central Classis

Our activities include a “Coffee & Conversation” group that works on various crafts and for those who prefer cooking, they try out new recipes. Other projects include the baking of nut, poppyseed and apricot rolls for the holidays and the making of kolbász and hurka, always in great demand. Earle V. Wittpenn, the former owner of our local newspaper and one of our members, initiated a quarterly church newsletter (The Church Chat), which is sent to all our members advising them of the recent and future activities at the church. Our church will undergo some major remodeling and renovating in the upcoming year, which include the painting of our sanctuary and the repair of the church roof. We have already received one sizable donation toward this renovation from one of our senior members, Charles W. Popely, for which we are grateful. We have a very conscientious Consistory who are responsible for maintaining the upkeep of our church. Since the Chief Elder’s position remains unfilled, our Assistant Chief-Elder, Mr. William F. Horosz is the acting Chief Elder, Treasurer Ms. Lisa Susan Toth, Assistant Treasurer - Mrs. Ruth Toth and Mrs. Vera Recktosh, Secretary, Mrs. Dorothy C. Capp. Our church is eagerly looking forward to celebrating our 100th Anniversary on Sunday, October 19,2003. Planning is already underway to make this a special event. We have already set up an Anniversary Fund to help defray any expenses we’ll incur. On September 1st, a Surprise Celebration was held for Ruth and Elmer Toth’s 50th wedding anniversary by their children and family at which time it was announced that in lieu of gifts, donations to the church were accepted. Ruth & Elmer informed the church that all donations will be turned over to the church for the Anniversary Fund. What a nice gesture from two of our hardworking members. May God grant them many more years of happiness. We look into the future with hope because we trust in the Lord and can depend on the loyalty and generosity of our members. Rev. Alexander Jalso 110
