Happily, the Lord God offsets the numerical loss with other new members and lights the fire of zeal for His house in the stalwart hearts of His people. In the midst of our focus on maintaining the life of the church, we have not forgotten about our call to minister to the needs of others around us. In March, a Mission Sunday dinner was held to benefit a girl with cancer. All of the proceeds went to her support. Later that same month, we feted the Concordia Choir from Slovakia before their trip home. We also continue to maintain support for the ongoing community wide Breakfast Bunch Program of feeding Elementary School children, now in its 15th year of operation. The “Cereal Sunday” collection in September brought in an abundance of dry products that will last the school year. For a little fun and fellowship we held our first annual pig-roast in August; it was well liked and attended. In October we hosted the annual Grape Harvest Dinner in Township Park with the Cleveland Hungarian Scouts performing folk dance routines. Along with the fundraising projects, we draw interest to these events from a large area in Northeast Ohio. During the year, some of our youth participated in the annual Youth Conference held at Calvin UCC in Toledo, Ohio, the Summer Youth Camp in Laurelville, Pennsylvania, and the November Bonfire gathering in Cleveland. Sadly, the Youth Fellowship is without adult advisors. Yet, most of them are either involved as aides to the Sunday School and/or participate during church services as ushers and Scripture readers. We thank God for the talents and gifts of our membership. May we continue to use them for the benefit of the faith fellowship, our fellow man, and the glory of God. Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi, Pastor 78
