Our Summer Bazaar was a great success. grow, when they intentionally reach out to people instead of concentrating on their institutional need. Now, we know as this is what we see: the American Hungarian Reformed Church life, the way that our ministries are performed and the worship styles used, will attract some people more than others. Spiritually, the community that is entrusted into our hands, is the American Hungarian community, primarily. This community includes all of our own family members, children and grandchildren, in-laws and uncle, all our relatives. This is the pool where our mission starts, they are our American Hungarian community. We make a special and conscious effort to invite all who are near and dear to us, family members, relatives, friends and neighbors to attend our Sunday worship services. We believe that if these people are attracted by the life in our church, growth is more likely. All in all, the focus of our congregational life is to be outward in serving and mission rather than inward in self-preservation and caretaking. My prayer is that in the coming year, we will explore more fully the spiritual gifts given to us. We will gain in our experience with teambased ministry and we shall bear witness in both death and baptism to the new life offered in Christ. Thus we will truly feel the paradox of the Gospel, that by giving ourselves away in service and mission, by helping to nurture others in Christ’s name, we find ourselves nurtured and served by none other than the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Indeed, “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.” God bless us all, as in His grace and by His strength we embark on another new Millennium! Rev. Steven Géczy, Pastor 95
