The Pastor visited the sick and shut-ins in the hospitals and nursing homes, and in their homes. Bulletins, pastoral letters and other religious material was made available to our members and friends. The Pastor preached in other churches on 8 occasions. He preached at the Kirkland Place Church on February 15th, at the Synod Meeting in Ligonier, Pennsylvania on May 12th, in Fairfield, Connecticut on May 24th, in Los Angeles on September 20lh, in Reseda, California also on September 20lh, in Portland, Oregon on September 27th, in Fairport Harbor, Ohio on October 11th, and again at the Kirkland Place Church on December 6lh. Our guest ministers were: the Rt. Rev. Gustav Bolcskei, presiding Bishop of the Reformed Church in Hungary on September 6th, Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi, the new Bishop of Calvin Synod on October 25th, Rev. András Lucskay, Dean of the Reformed Church in Slovakia on December 6lh, Rev. Dr. Ernest Racz on September 20lh and 27*, Rev. Stephen Szabó on October 1 llh, Rev. August Molnár on April 19lh and May 24th, Rev. Árpád de Kallós on March 8th, and Rev. Edward Hardwick on February 22nd. As of October 1“, our organist, Miss Julie Balog, resigned due to her heavy schedule at the university. Since then we have been unable to get an organist, and we are recording our hymns for our worship services. Every effort was made to help others in need. The following donations were made: Miskolc Church (burned down by arsonists) $1,000; guest ministers $500; Karpataija (flood victims) $400; Church World Service $250; American Hungarian Foundation $125; CROP Walk $100; and Clergy Association $25. The Pastor’s wife, Mrs. Vilma Vitéz, departed this life on September 9,n. The funeral was held September 11lh. The Church observed her 70* anniversary on November 21, 1999. A new organ was donated to the Church by Mrs. Nancy Janosko and was dedicated at the Anniversary Service. Rt. Rev. Dr. Francis Vitéz, Bishop Emeritus 77
