Bethlen Almanac 1998 (Ligonier)
The Bethlen Home
A 95 éves Zerinváry Renáta néni szobája a Bethlen Otthonban, saját kézimunkáival díszítve. Olyan, mint egy múzeum. This past year, the residents enjoyed a variety of activities that were based on a specific theme, i.e., senior games, travel week and Christmas in July. One of the most favorite activities this year was the Harvest Ball Dinner Dance which was attended by many of our lady residents. What made this activity so special was that each resident had a prom gown and an escort for the evening. Students from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, graciously volunteered to be escorts. Needless to say, our ladies were beaming from ear to ear throughout the whole evening. Prior to the event, the ladies received a facial, a manicure and had their hair done. It was a night fit for a queen! To top the evening off, each lady’s photo was taken with her escort. We are looking forward to making this event into a yearly tradition. Last year, the Activity Department received a donation from the Mellon Foundation and the Ligonier Endowment Fund to purchase hand bells. Now, a group of residents meet faithfully every Friday for practice. This year, the group performed during a live Nativity program during the holiday season for residents and their families. Several residents and children also participated in this program under the leadership of activity staff member Florence Wood. 35
