Bethlen Almanac 1998 (Ligonier)
The Bethlen Home
Activity Report for 1998 Activities are a very vital part in our residents’ lives here at the Bethlen Home. Throughout the year, the Activity Department and its staff provide a variety of programs that provide entertainment, stimulation, fun and involvement with our staff and local community organizations. These activities help meet the social, physical and spiritual needs of our residents throughout their stay at the Bethlen Home. This year, the Activity Department had to cancel the Spring and Fall Fund Raisers which were held for over 20 years. Although the fellowship among the community, residents, volunteers and families will be missed, this decision was a result of the decline in volunteerism. Through the kindness and support of families, churches, community groups, etc., the Activity Department continues to receive donations throughout the year to support the Resident Activity Fund that provides several important projects such as: the yearly Presents for Patients’ Program at Christmas; a swing glider that will permit a resident in a wheelchair to swing, etc. The Activity staff provides a variety of regular programs that are scheduled on a weekly and monthly basis such as Bible study, church service, birthday parties, movies, bingo, etc. to name a few. These activities provide stimulation and self-esteem to our residents, and they are made available to all residents whether attending independently or requiring roombound visitation. Activities are held seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Each Activity staff member has a talent of his or her own that he or she can share with our resident be it arts and crafts, sports, music, etc. Rev.
