This year our major event will be our Mid-Year Congregational Meet­ing, which will focus on the future of our church. Rev. István Nyeste, Pastor DAYTON, OH Pastor: Rev. Gabor G. Nitsch* Chief Elder: Joseph Olesh, Jr. Hungarian Evangelical and Reformed Church U.C.C. Dayton, Ohio The church has been without a minister since the resignation of Rev­erend Kaiser in February 1997. In the meantime, however, we are happy to report that the new pastor, the Rev. Gabor G. Nitsch, and his family will arrive in February of 1998 to assume the pastorage of our congregation and continue to lead this wonderful congregation to new achievements on the way to the kingdom of God. The profit from the March 15 banquet was divided equally between two sister churches: Columbus, Ohio, (to help defray the costs of renewal of the air conditioning system of the church, fellowship hall and parson­age) and Johnstown, Pennsylvania, (to help repair the damaged roof) The activities of the church include, but are not restricted to: • March Banquet. Tickets sold in advance (450). Profit going to some worthwhile Hungarian need. • Grape festival • Ladies Aid Christmas bazaar • Hungarian language classes every Tuesday. • Sausage making twice a year • Goodfellowship club meeting once a month. • Cook for Salvation Army once a month • Bake for the World Affair Convention once a year. • Church family luncheons and picnic • Sponsor and hold 2 bingo games weekly • Csiga making every Tuesday • Celebration of the Hungarian revolt of 1956 • Print church newsletter quarterly Statistics include: • 75 members on church roster • 43 attend on a regular basis - more or less • 9 live in nursing homes or have moved to Florida to retire • The other 23 attend church services - Easter and Christmas 94
