Kovács Pál: A Bethlen Otthon beszámolója. Egy kis visszapillantás
We here at the Bethlen Home are proud in being an efficient, economical “steward” of our resources. In spite of the fact that our private pay charges are at least $15.00/day less than neighboring nursing homes, so far we have some surplus dollars helping us out in unexpected circumstances, and had no need to apply for loans offered by our PA Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging and the American Association of Homes and Sevices for the Aging. This offer with low interest rates is helping out many homes in difficult times. We are admitting many more medicaid residents than ever before. They are being admitted older, chronically ill, disabled and of course, with their finances exhausted. Last year we started the new documentation procedure under the Case Mix Program, documenting the quality of resident care and services through computerized system called Pro-Vision with a direct line (modem) to the State offices in Harrisburg called the PaSS or Pa Submission software. By sending all information on each resident we can be monitored more closely on the care received; a very complicated rating system will thereby determine what each individual residents daily rate will be. Our nurses, medical records secretary, RN Assessment Coordinator (RNAC) attended several seminars to learn this new method of documentation and payment. The standard in today’s highly regulated nursing care is: “If it is not documented, it is not done.” On this documentation our medicare and medicaid reimbursements depend. Last year’s church donations were printed in this Bethlen Yearbook. We appreciate very much the donations and we are grateful for all your support; looking through the list of donations, I sympathize with the small and poor churches who are struggling financially... but for the sake of the charity, as a fundamental part of our ministry, remember the widow who out of her poverty with two copper coins contributed more (Mark 12:44). Please find our churches’ contributions to the Bethlen Home in 1993-1994-1995 following my report. In conclusion, I wish to express my personal gratitude 36
