UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST Amerikai Egyházkerületeiben TOLEDO, OH Pastor: Imre A. Bertalan Calvin United Church, founded in 1903 as the Magyar Református Egyház, celebrated its 90th Anniversary during this past year. It is through God’s grace that Calvin has been able to weather the many changes which have taken place throughout these 90 wonderful years. Many special events took place during the year, including a special Stewardship Drive which encouraged members to give $90 per family to the glory of God for bringing us this far. Also, as an outgrowth of this committee, a Christian media center has been established, with many volumes of spiritual works and self-help, appealing to all ages and interests. Also, in the media center are audio cassettes of a Christian nature, which have proved to be very popular. Special programs of study were held during the seasons of Lent and Advent, which were very inspiring and spiritually nurturing. On the positive side, Calvin now has two persons enrolled in the 5 year Lay Ministry program of the United Church of Christ. Judy Shumaker has finished her fourth year of training, with her main area of interest being worship leadership and church administration. Marie Wharton has completed her first year of training, with her main interest being care-giving and visiting the sick and shut-ins. With the 227
