Bertalan was on sabbatical leave in Sárospatak, Hungary. In this way, he may better minister to those Hungarian descent. He was accompained by his wife, Magdalene Újvági Bertalan, who studied Hungarian music, sewing, and folk art. The Bertalans five children alos went with them, and were enrolled in the Academy School. We at Calvin saw this as an excellent opportunity for the Bertalan family, and also for the many benefits we as a congregation will derive from their experiences. 228
