160 BETHLEN ALMANAC Board of Elders in 1959 — Detroit Church. During the past year 3,700 received the Lord’s Supper; there were 64 baptisms, 28 marriages, 20 were confirmed, 4 adults were received from other faiths and there were 44 funerals conducted by the pastor. The Church Council of the merged churches consists of 54 members. The chief officers are: Honorary-presidents: Charles Kiss, Gedeon Tukacs, Charles Bajnai and Charles Bone. Presidents: Stephen Szaniszlo and George Faragó. Vice-presidents: Elemer Mathia, Alex Szenas, Michael Biro, Alex Dombrady and Kalman Galgoczy. President of English Congregation: Alex Poszgay. Secretaries: Alex Koroknay and Louis Farkas. Chief Auditor: John Jacksy. Treasurer: Joseph Toth. Auditors: Zoltán Toth, Zoltán Ambrus, Joseph Kovács, Daniel Tarr, and Joseph Tohati. The church has a full time Director of Religious Education and Director of Music in the person of Ernest Káplár. The Ladies Aid Society has a membership of 260 and since 1941 it has contributed an average of $10,000 annually to the church. The officers are: Honorary President: Mrs. Joseph Nemeth.
