BETHLEN ALMANAC 161 Officers of the Women’s Association in 1959 Detroit Reformed Church. Kovács. Secretary: Mrs. Herbert Grundemann. Treasurer: Mrs. Joseph Demeter. Auditor: Mrs. Stephen Kollath. President of the Thaddeus Avenue Society was Mrs. Louis Szalontai. Our Sunday School is self-supporting, with a teaching staff of 12, utilizing all the modern methods of audio-visual education. The superintendent of the school is Ernest Kaplar. The Golden Circle is a married couples’ club, that is very active in our church work. The president last year weis Mrs. John Pitel. Vice-President Mrs. Tibor Toth, Secretary Mrs. Alex Bama and Treasurer Jesse Pasztemak. The Christian Youth Fellowship is under the guidance and leadership of Mrs. John Pitel. They meet for their devotionals every second Sunday. 12 of our young people attended the Bethlen Youth Conference at McKeesport. The church has two choirs, one Hungarian and one English. With the exception of July and August our choirs sing at every service. The Choir Director: Ernest Kaplar. The Church Bowling League is made up of 14 teams. Dining the bowling season they bowl every Thursday evening. The League President is Alex Poszgay. Secretary: Mrs. John Pitel. Treasurer: Wm. Antal. We are grateful to God for the many manifestations of His grace and glory in the life and history of our church. Soli Deo Gloria! McKEESPORT, Pa. — Pastor: Rev. Louis Nagy Rev. Louis Nagy, Dean of Western Classis, is the pastor of this congregation which consists of 660 persons including 540 confirmed adults and 120 children. The total income was $52,689.52 including the balance of the previous year which is $17,406.37. Their expense was $51,718.73 which amount also includes the prices of the newly bought manse and a rental home. At 153 occasions 13,261 persons attended the church, 1,658 persons partook in the holy communion and to an additional 19 sick persons the Lord’s Supper weis served. There were 16 baptisms, 6 couples were married, 15 children received instruction for confirmation. There were 12 funeral services, 213 family visits and 470 visits in the hospitals were administered in McKeesport and vicinity. There was a Bible School and also an additional Hungarian language school, both for two weeks. Our church is led by a consistory of 30 persons. The honorary chief elder is Gabor T. Balogh at the same time also chief elder of the Western Classis. Officers: John Kontz chief elder, Andrew Toth and Frank Toth vice chief-elders, Albert Toth treasurer, Charles Balogh secretary, William Jardanhazy comptroller; John Szucs and John Vozar Sr. honorary elders.
