BETHLEN NAPTA CONTINUATION OF THE NEW EF THE THIRD SUPERINTEND The history of the beginning of the new era m L11G mv -------Home through the year 1946, the 25th, anniversary of the institution, should have been written by the second superintendent, Dr. Nanassy. However, because of ill health, he resigned in the Fall of 1944 and returned to his Maker in March, 1945. It was during Dr. Nanassy”s administration that Dr. Kalassay resigned as Overseer of the Aged, which position was filled by Rev. Alexander Mircse of Indiana Harbor, Indiana. Rev Mircse resigned in 1951, after serving nine years, since which time he and Mrs. Mircse have been residents of the Home for the Aged. Upon the resignation of Dr. Nanassy, Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy, pastor of the East Chicago, Indiana, congregation, was elected third Superintendent of the Bethlen Home. PICTURES OF THE PRESENT Let the era following this adiministration give account of how the present superintendent and his co-workers fulfilled their calling. From the record below the reader may determine whether or not he and his associates served well the glory of God, those of the household of their faith, and those under their care and supervision; and whether or not the talents entrusted to them had been increased. In caring for dependents, young or old alike, those in charge are daily, admonished by these words of the Gospel: “Thy Father which seeth in sercret himself shall reward thee openly.” THE THIRD OVERSEER Rev. Louis Varga, pastor of the Pittsburgh congregation was elected the third Overseer of the Aged by the Board of Directors. He had been a member of this board himself for twenty years so was well acquainted with the duties involved in his new position. He filled his position on January 1, 1952, and has been serving loyally and well with his wife since that time. NEW BUILDING PROJECT - 1952 With God’s help the new era of the Federation got under way in 1936, while that of the Bethlen Home began in 1941. Continuous growth was made possible through the moral and financial support so generously given by our pastors, church members and friends. We believe that progress and growth will certainly continue in the future also. Under the administration of Jospeh Kecskemethy the Bethlen Home became still better known after two new buildings were erected in 1952: a home with hospital facilities for the old people and a superintendent’s home adjoining the children’s home. The old building housing the old folks was remodeled and redecorated. The farm was modernized. For the glorious past, blessed present, and for all that God wills we have in the future, as we continue building on the faith and work of our predecessors, let praise, glory, honor, and thanks be to the Lord. The following statistics speak for themselves regarding the growth and progress made by the Bethlen Home throughout the years.
