Dr. William Toth: Five Seasonal Prayers

146. OLDAL BETHLEN NAPTÁR AZ 1945-IK ESZTENDŐRE abiding in the heart of man. Thou dost come near us; Thou dost come to dwell among us. Not in this world are we to find the wherewithal to build the kingdom that will answer to the needs of righteous hearts. In the fullness of time Thou dost come in Thy Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. We know that we shall not be acquainted with the anguish of dismay, if He lives in us. We know that through Him we can do all things. Deepen and strengthen therefore, we beseech Thee, the hearty trust we have through Christ toward Thee that in Thy good pleasure when the Son of Man comes in clouds' of heaven, with power and great glory, then shall we also appear with Him in glory. In His name. Amen. Christmas Eve. Our loving Father! Along with multitudes of Thy people everywhere, we turn our adoring faces to Thee tonight. Look down upon us with the tenderness of that love wherewith Thou didst first love us. Thou hast been so good to us. What shall we say in turn to Thank Thee ? Words are so frail and our hearts are silent in adoration. We know not if we should wonder more at the fullness of Thy grace that sought us out or magnify Thy holy name with the angels on high as Thou dost become flesh in a little Child. How silently Thy gift is given! How wonderfully the mystery of Thy love is unfolded!! Quicken our senses, 0 Father, that we might draw near and behold what has come to pass. Thou didst so love the world that what prophet bards foretold now is a reality shining before our eyes. Thou art in Christ. Thou has come to dwell among us as a Savior. We adore Thee, 0 Christ, our Redeemer! We love Thee, who art a child. Thy helplessness is our strength. Thine innocence and purity speaks in our behalf, whose sinfulness has lost for us the right to speak. Thy silence is the Word of life, the humility of Thy birth the gateway to glory. In Thy poverty is our wealth that adds all zest to living. Through Thy loneliness are we lifted up as the sons of God who are to people earth and heaven in triumph. 0 Holy Child of Bethlehem, Descend to us, we pray; Cast out our sin, and enter in, Be born in us today. We hear the Christmas angels The great glad tidings tell; 0 come to us, abide with us, Our Lord Emmanuel. Abide with us as a Child that we might learn to love Thee more. Abide with us in the glorious light of the manger that as our sinfulness nails Thee to the Cross we might more
