8 oldal BÉRMUNKÁS 1932 október 22. Junior Column Reorganization of Junior Wobblies at Chicago, Ili. The reorganization of the Junior Wobbly classes was held Sunday Oct. 2, 1932. Although there was a small attendance we expect the membership to increase in the near future. Officers were elected and also two delegates to the Kentucky Miners Defense and Relief Committe. The classes will be under the direction of fellow workers Rose Knuuti and Aaron Weber. The following subjects will be taught: Economics, Labor History, Labor Dramatics, Public Speaking and Labor Journalism. The Junior Wobblies will present four labor sketches under the direction of Rose Knuuti, director of Drama at. the Goodman Theatre. The sketches will be “On the Road,” “The Garret,” “The Furnace,” and “The Night Shift.” All written by W. W. Gibson. Entertainments will be held every three weeks at the IWW Hall under the auspices of the Junior Wobblies. All young workers are invited to come down and join the classes which are held every Sunday at 10 A. M. sharp at the IWW Hall 1618 W. Madison Street. Junior Wobbly Press Committee. From all indications the Junior Wobblies in Chicago are going to have a grand old time throughout the winter months. The subjects that are to be taught are very important for young rebels imbued with the spirit of revolt against a social system based upon the exploitation of the many by the few. “Knowledge is Power!” Therefore all young workers should attend these study classes NECESSITY OF ORGANIZATION As the present world crisis is getting more acute, as man after man is relieved of his job, as young boys and girls are forced to quit school, as families are being thrown out of their dilapidated shacks and forced to starve, it is about time that a young movement— a movement of young should be organized not on political lines, but organized in a class organization, the working class. Just a few examples to show the necessity of organizing into a class. Look at the history of the American workers for the past fifty years. Would the judicial lynching of the Chicago Martyrs have taken place if the workers were organized? Would the murder of Sacco and Vanzetti' be sanctioned if the working class was organized. Would Mooney and Billings be in jail) today, and would the Kentucky Miners be facing death if the workers were organized as a class, and not in political parties? After you study the history of the working class, you find the necessity of organization. Young workers should be organized for they are the ones who will be exploited by the capitalist class if they are not taught to organize while young. When both the young and the old workers will be organized, the work of overthrowing this accursed system of capitalism will be easier, and in its place a new society of free cooperation, brotherhood and equality shall be built. For this purpose the Junior Wobblies were organized. To give the young generation of the working class parents', not only an idea, but actual facts of how this system is working, and will be working until they, the young workers, take hand and organize to correct this world. All young workers should be interested in the great struggle of the oppressed against the oppressors, of the exploited against the exploiters, of the workers against the capitalists. To learn of this struggle and the solution, attend the classes of the Junior Wobblies being held every Sunday morning at 10 A. M. at the IWW Hall 1618 W. Madison Street. CHILD LABOR Child labor means the exploitation of children in the industries of production, i. e.; mills, factories, mines etc. The earliest factory records are found in England. Today in the U. S. A. children are employed by merchants and also factory owners. Sometimes in the mills we also find them. Boys and girls stand on the street corners selling papers often helping to support their parents. The stand is generously donated by the press trust. They sell them when it is cold and miserable weather, wet and freezing sometimes below zero. In the South theie are children in the cotton mills with its inhuman stretch out system. Today we see modern industry wiping out the skill of the workers which makes it easier to exploit children to do the work. The workers should have an organization to stop this at once. The English factory workers had many struggles to stop it when it began. CHARITY COMMENT weherever they are held. In these study classes you will obtain the knowledge that is so necessary to understand this social system—why it works the way it does—when we will possess the knowledge we can educate other workers to the necessity of organizing into a ONE BIG UNION to obtain our desired goal—Emancipation from Wage Slavery! A Nóta Vége színpadra viszi a munkanélküliség szülte nyomort, nélkülözést és szemlélte- tőleg is tanítója a tömegeknek, hogy a helyzet megváltoztatására nem a polgári társadalom szülte gondolkodás adta öngyilkosság vagy jótékonyság az eszköz, de a szervezkedés, a munkás karok összefogása, az erők egyesítése. Ezt igazolja az egyre fokozódó tevékenység, amelynek mérlege és bizonyítéka a fenti kimutatás a most folyó Bérmunkás előfizetési versenyben. Nehézségek, azok vannak, a miknek egyik legsúlyosabb része a hosszú munkanélküliségből származó pénztelenség, ami nehezíti Munkástársaink eredményesebb munka végzését. De ötven centje, egy dollárja akad a bérmunkásnak még ma is, hogy elősegítse a nagytömegek felvilágosító, nevelő munkáját, amelyet magyar nyelven húsz esztendeje szolgál a Bérmunkás. Versenyünk kezd kibontakozni és minden héten több és több uj harcosunk szerepel a kimutatásba, amelyet lapkezelőink óhajára a lapbizottság legutóbbi gyűlése, december hó 17-éveI záródó szombatig hosz- szabbitott meg. Ez a hasáb bizonyuljon kevésnek a versenyben résztvevők kimutatására. Ez lesz a legméltóbb jutalma munkánknak.
