Bevezetés

Finally, the question arises: Is the college an educational institute or a self sufficient economic unit? Which one is the more important factor? This is where the difficulty lies in the study of this topic. It is not possible to conduct the examination purely from the point of view of the history of the college's economic system. It is also important to see that the college is not merely an entailed property, a middle class estate or a private bank. And it is certainly not a prototype of state economy, althoungh it can be compared to all these. The use of the profit clearly shows that it is none of the above mentioned but an educational system. It is a school. However it is important to highlight the college's economic system and its mechanism, it has to be recognised that these are only secondary. This is an other reason why the economic management of the college in Sárospatak can not be examined seperately. It is necessary to pay our attention to the various functions of the school as a whole.
