New acquisitions

The pattern of the silk-thread embroidery, which is executed in green, blue, orange, beige, and uncoloured thread, covers the entire sur­face of the linen ground. It consists of stylised flowers arranged in diagonal bands. This piece was originally one of a pair of embroideries that embellished a pair of women's trousers. The present artefact was later edged with fan-pat­tern pillow lace made from metallic thread and used as a cover. Purchased from Károly Lázár, 2001 Inv. no.: 2001.435.1 "Delphos" ladies' dress and tunic (?) Designer: Mariano Fortuny, Venice, 1910-15 Length of the dress: 127 cm; length of the tunic: 108 cm "Delphos" dress: a straight-cut garment made from pleated black silk. Altered at the shoulders. Tunic: a straight-cut sleeveless garment made from pleated light blue silk.
